Spaceship.com recently launched a new Marketplace section, and as NamePros has given me the go-head, I think the company deserves its own thread for NP domain marketplace users to converse in.

https://www.spaceship.com/sellerhub/

Personally speaking, I will be setting up a new Spaceship.com account this weekend and going to work investigating its various features, options and policies.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Are there any surcharges for withdrawing to Paypal, etc.?
Nothing on Spaceships end for withdrawing, just any standard currency conversion fees or platform fees (if any)

I've been experimenting to see if names added to Spaceship's Sellers Hub will show up in NameCheap's search results. It looks like it works correctly if the full name is searched for with the extension (as in "domainname.com"). BUT, if the name is searched for without the extension (as in "domainname" or "domain name"), it shows up with a Make Offer button and when they click on that button a pop-up appears that says "Want to know how much this domain costs? This domain name is likely for sale. You can make a free offer below and our partner, DomainAgents, will help you reach the owner and secure the domain" with a DomainAgents logo on the pop-up form.

Shouldn't it work the same way for all of the above scenarios?

Sounds like Namecheap likes their bread buttered on both sides.

@Marina Savina For "External" domains listed on SellerHub that passed initial TXT verification ("Listed" domains), is it required that the TXT record remains in place at all time?

I'm asking this in the context of doing repeated CSV uploads with the same domains, to change prices.

In short, is the (TXT) verification a one-time process, or does it recur periodically, even with every CSV upload?

For those that have sold there how do negotiations look? Hidden buyer info or name, email etc... open for seller to view like namepros, efty, atom?

Buyer's full name and country, chat-like communication.

That happens if you have a listing on Afternic. It's not something we control.

I guess the point is that when someone clicks on Make Offer (from the search results on Spaceship) I believe they should be taken to Spaceship's interface to actually make an offer... whether they searched for "domainname.com" or "domainname" or "domain name" (it should not make a difference). I completely realize that this is not in your control, it's in Spaceship's control.

Here's another discrepancy...

Let's say you have a name listed on Spaceship as both BIN and Make Offer.

If you go to Namecheap and search for that name with the .com ("domainname.com") it will display the price and a Buy Now button will appear. Which is good.

But... if you go to Namecheap and search for the same name without the .com ("domainname" or "domain name") it won't show the price, and it only shows a Make Offer button instead of a Buy Now button. And again, clicking on Make Offer gives you the DomainAgents pop-up -- you are not brought to Spaceship's interface.

Why ??

Just been implemented, everything is in beta. Patience (but feedback).

I searched yesterday for some of the BIN names I have listed on the Buyer Hub, but they appeared as make offer only. They are still building I guess..

Spaceship marketplace is nothing but a landing page at the moment. I see no reason to use it over a namepros landing page. Or any other landing page with lead management for that matter. It does not bring you extra exposure. If you want a pretty landing page and you like the design, go for it. But I can tell you that aside from buyers wanting a marketplace they can trust, they just want the name at a good price. But for a buyer to even get to your Spaceship landing page, they have to find it somehow! So either they are typing the name in (which would bring them to any landing page) or they are using some kind of search. How many buyers are going into spaceships niche marketplace at the moment?

No. Domains listed at Spaceship SellerHub are shown in Namecheap's registration path. Namecheap will soon stop showing Sedo and Afternic domains, so listing your domains at SellerHub keeps the exposure at one of the major registrars.

"will soon stop showing". Which means that it currently does nothing that an afternic listing wouldn't do. Which doesn't even require that you point your name to them. Additionally, even when it does happen, how many people are typing in and buying your specific names? This % in my experience is very small. It's mostly applicable for high ticket generics.

Please clarify what you mean with this. I'm currently listing all my domains as "external" domains, and without using their landers.

To appear on registration paths, even on Namecheap, currently domainers can just submit their domains to afternic. Without pointing the domains to Afternic, they have access to the registration paths. I'm saying currently Spaceship offers no leverage on anything and they do not give any extra exposure over any other landing page. Even when they do make the registrar paths exclusive, it only affects a small number of names in an average portfolio.

They may be in second place but they are WAY behind GoDaddy. I'm far from a GoDaddy fan but facts is facts.

GD messed up by having pay to play on negotiations on your own names. Names don't fly off the shelves any faster at GD than anywhere else.

To clarify, I'm already preparing for the moment when Sedo and Afternic listings disappear. As I understand it, this will take effect very soon, unless it's part of Spaceship's negotiation strategy with Afternic. At this moment, you're right that until then, it adds no extra benefit, but I prefer to have everything set up in advance.
