Something I never understood

I got an email from SEDO with the 'GreatDomains Auction closes tomorrow!‏' Went to the auctions page and found those:

quotes.info - 20 bids/ 2,000 USD
MYDRIVE.DE - 5 bids/ 10,000 EUR

The first one get 2,740,000 exact GMS and the second one 14,800 exact GMS (Google AdWords)

My question is why a name like 'my drive' that sounds pretty stupid like my hat, my bat , my window...is so highly priced (without counting the .de extension, Germany + English words) and ONE single word domain like 'quotes' is only 2k? I don't own any of them but If I had mydrive.de and if I asked for an appraisal here in the forums I bet it be like high xx.

What makes the difference? For example has anyone else sold in the past let's say Lincoln.de? Or even better, CaliforniaTrip.de?

I have no idea why mydrive.de would go for so much but I feel quotes should go for way more than $2k.

Search volume is not sole measure of value, brandability is important too.
That being said, domains choices for auctions are subjective.

The .DE extension is a lot more valuable than .info, and it's probably a company that wants that particular domain and is willing to bid that high.
