Hi guys!

Today, I checked my email, and found a lady emailed me asking to buy my domain. It's a great domain, registered since 2008. It fits very well with a particular industry, that's just starting to grow.

I do not feel quite comfortable posting the domain, as I'm scared the potential buyer will find this thread, so excuse my paranoia.

Anyway, I've held onto this domain, planning to start a business with the name. I even filed an LLC last year, and it's just been a matter of time before I start using it.

It's a .com, and the .org and .net are owned by two different registrants (obviously squatters, or they're sitting there undeveloped for a handful of years, who knows?).

The buyer offered $350.00 for the domain name. I feel this is a low amount, considering I've already invested into filing for LLC, and I really do like the domain name. It's catchy, and a beautifully generic domain, in my eyes. So quite a bit of personal value.

However, if this buyer could make a serious offer, I would definitely consider it, and be willing to drop the LLC and find a new name. But I would be selling to a future competitor as well.

Any advice on what I should respond with? Should I just hold onto the email? Considering the personal value, what's a realistic amount to be expecting? I know that's a tough question to ask, considering I'm not releasing the name directly.

Any advice or input, is greatly appreciated

You are in perfect position since you get most money
when you don't want to sell and buyer must have your domain.

And you sound like you don't care whether you sell it or not.
If so, say...
Code:
Hi Potential Buyer,

Thanks for your offer.
"Mydomain.com" is NOT for sale.
I did NOT registered it to resell.

I plan to start a business with it.
I even filed LLC for it last year.

However, you are welcomed to let me know your best offer
and see if it's good enough to change my mind.

Regards,
NJB

Thank you for that. I sent an email, expressing that I had intentions to develop it in the future, and they've already doubled their offer. Personally, I still think this is too low, and won't settle for less than four figures at this point. If that scares them away, so be it. I'd rather have the domain anyway :)

Thank you for your suggestion :)

I'd wait a day or two after they doubled their offer and counter them with a price that's more than you want so that you can negotiate to your ideal amount.

Worst that could happen is that you lose the sale. If they doubled their offer that fast I'm sure they will pay much more than they are offering.

Good luck!

For $350 offer, would you think that your domain couldn't earn that money through affiliate programs or advertising once fully develop and generate tons of traffic. Sometimes its not all about money but opportunity. For sure the buyer sees great potential on it that you may haven't yet discovered.
