Some Help Here, what kind of domains are illegal for sale.

I am quite new in here, so please pardon me if I go wrong.

I was just wondering what kind of domains are illegal for sale, I still don't get it after reading up abit on the internet.

Is it wrong to list domains such as

OlympicRSS.com
OlympicGameForum.com
Official2008Olympic.com

as far as illegal to sell, i don't think that exsists, some one correct me if i am wrong... Selling names with a known trademark is not illegal, it's more about ethics than legality i think.

I believe some people have had problems with 'olympic' names...

I live near the Olympic Mountains in Washington State (US). A number of local businesses, I understand, have had trademark troubles from the Olympic Games.

A clear case of an organization with a too heavily funded legal department, in my opinion.

Buying the names or owning them is not illegal, but the Olympic games could try to take them from you, an expensive process even if you win.

Civil not criminal law.

No, you can sell any domain you own.

I believe that the term "olympic" is TMed, so selling it could be a bit harder as TMed names are more challenging to sell as people are more wary of them

I had this problem before and read the actual tm and copyright rulings.
Anything (and I mean anything) olympic games related is copyrighted and trademarked to the Olympic games - they will shut the site down - if it's mountain related - and the site content proves it - there is nothing they can do. -But your domains are pretty specific, so I think your SOL. If you had Olympicshirts.com and sold Olympic Games clothes - they'd shut you down = if you sold tourist t's from the mountain - you're safe.

Don't think you have anything to worry about with those variants IMHO. Might be a different matter if you develop into a busy site niching the olympic games possibly.

Would be a much harder call if you had the proper plurals.

OlympicRSS is a good one!

Still finding my feet a little with regards to trademarks etc after being slapped on the wrist by Roche, the drugs company!

the IOC is one of the strongest enforces of their TMs.
ALL your domaisn infringe on their TM.
I bet you wont be able to list them on SEDO.

Take it from me, delete the names before it is too late.
If you think I am making it worse than it seems, ask in the legal section.
anything with the word OLYMPIC is a BIG no no.

damn, i read up abit after searching on olympic TMs from this forum. and yeah i guess mine domains really infringes their TM.

but again, if i develop these domains, the olympic forums for forums only and the RSS for RSS. would it be wrong?
or can i donate these domains to the IOC.

I'm afraid of anything happening, cos i might get my ass fired if they sue me cos i'm just a student. and students are always getting sued these days.

It is not illegal to sell them. But, if they decided to take action, they could come after you. So just weigh the risks with the rewards - if you think it's worth it, go for it!

oh man. there are so many mix responses.
i hope i can get a refund on these domains.
does anyone know if i will be able to get a refund from godaddy. it's been almost 2 months since i registered them.

but since i have registered these domains a month ago, they dont allow it.
