Hi Name Pros,
I have noticed that exact match domains have been ranking very well, especially with these new gtlds. However, I am curious if 301'ing the .com to the gtld will hurt SEO ranking if i advertise the .com still.
E.g., on business cards, twitter, etc -- i link it as *social.com rather than *.social
The reason I want this set-up is because the new gtlds will never have as much of a clickthrough than a .com domain, ever. Not now, not ever. People are 100% familiar with .com and even if they know about the gtlds (which general public does not) they might not click thinking its a fake link or mistake.
Anyway, although 301'd, would it hurt pushing the .com variant rather than the direct link?
