In an effort to better understand the habits of NamePro users, I make this poll. Since I started domaining about 3 months ago I've parked every domain I bought as soon as I bought it. Then only moved it from parking when I was able to develop some of them. Lately, I get the idea that some of you don't do it that way. Please comment on what you do with your domains once you buy them and why.

Thanks,
JC

If I buy a domain I give it a "Coming Soon" page until I make the site, which is usually immediately afterwards, unless I just buy the domain to buy it, then it just kinda sits there lol. But Ive never bought one just to buy one, the only domains Ive got have sites.:)

Park them at A ppc site when I buy them.Remove from parking the one ones I 'm ready to develop as time permits.Domains that get traffic and low ppc earnings are forwarded to developed sites if I have one related.

Why, may I ask, do you leave them at the registrar? I was told when I started domaining that it's good to park right away to see wht kind of traffic the domain gets and to make a few cents (maybe bucks).

Parked them. B-)

Depends on the site. Some are practical, i.e. they get used on a regualar basis, and others are investments...i.e. they are not used and just regged cos they may go up in value.

I'm really interested in the reasoning behind why some folks leave some domains at the registrar. Anyone?

Mine get parked as soon as I have time. I have a couple that aren't parked right now(haven't had time) but will be soon. While they are parked, I start trying to sell them.

very interesting. Jimmi deserves some reputation for this - thanks

1st park

2 -then maybe redirect to own one pager... or leave parked but still create one pager.

3 - host on its own if enough links in to forwarded domain to hold its own in SE's. I dont let them off the mothership platform unless they can swim.

and hopefully through this process a buyer has presented themself but at the very least the domain is producing income so no regrets in regging it and a definite re-register.

Usually, I buy domains to develop them and I do that immediately. But sometimes, I buy domains, like a 4-number .NET for example, and park it. I think I have 2 or 3 domains with the registrar still and will park them soon. It's a waste leaving them with the registrar; you could be missing out on some revenue, IMHO :gl: .

At Domainsite they automatically have a parking page once you register the domain but I always change my DNS to my hosting and leave it there usually to develop but even if I intend to sell it un-deved I always like to keep on my hosting.
