My friend used snapnames last month and a half for a domain.
My friend placed a backorder at $79 1 and a half months ago when the domain was expiring. Whois now shows snapnames owns it but they haven't given it to him nor did an auction for it. This domain is really obscure too so 99% sure no one else wants it but he wanted to make sure he got it.
They also sent him an email 2 weeks ago or so titled "Good news..." and it basically said he can buy the domain for $500 right away.
He go so pissed off that he canceled his account. He will not sign up again for the $70 backorder price but said If I can do it for him if I want. I really want him to get the domain and am upset at snapnames for what they did.
I placed a backorder for the domain yesterday and availability of the domain says "Unknown"
Can anyone shed some light on what snapnames is doing? We basically cannot get the domain from anywhere else because snapnames owns it now. I'm wondering if there going to start doing shill bids or whatever else sleazy crap they come up with.
