I was watching two premium names that were about to drop today
and yesterday
Viagra.biz 28/5
Viagra.us 29/5
Both of them were reg at pool register NameScout.com and were starring at pool hotlist , obviously i was sure pool is going to get it easily since its drooping at their own register and its a close game . snapnames did not even let users the option to backorder those names .

now both of those names whois shows they got capture by snapnames !

How snap did it ? is it possible they snag the names from pool own register ?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Those are TM hot potatoes.

Experienced domainers will stay far away from those two.

Exactly! That's what distinguishes domainers from squatters.

If the names were in pending delete phase then its a free for all, its too late for the domain to get "passed" to an auction house.

I wasn't saying that you were going to bid, but it's good to remind newbies that bidding on these would be a bad idea, even if such a warning is slightly off-topic.

Can't do much about those who know better and choose to cybersquat, but we can help our newer members to make better decisions in their regs.

Right?

;)

See post #4.
These were drops, not 'prerelease' domains.

Hi,

Once a domain is in Pending delete phase it will be released to the Registry and becomes fair game for anyone to catch it.

There is no advantage to a Registrar because the domain had been registered there.

The advantage comes when you have a multitude of Registrars acting on your behalf all slamming the Registry with registration orders until the domain is captured.

Snapnames has that advantage over everyone.

The deleting domains are not released all at once but over a period of time. .COM and .NET is over a 2 hour period but most of the action happens in the first hour or so.

Therefore it would also help if you know the approximate time the domain(s) will be dropped that you are after.

I don't know that info but the person who operates DNMeter.com claims to and offers a subscription service. This is info only not a recommendation either way as I have never used the service.

I suspect many of the drop catchers have some idea of the domain dropping order as there are periods during the drop when registration attempts at the Registry are much heavier than at other times.
