Hi

Anyone else seeing the pattern of direct catches by BuyDomains but what seems to be using the SnapNames network of registrars?

If you had domains backordered in the past few days with snapnames and they didnt catch it, please check the whois record and see if you see the same pattern.

I am not accusing anyone here of any wrongdoing but rather trying to figure out if asking snapnames to catch a name now is as risky as asking epik to catch it knowing full well it puts goname on alert.

BuyDomains is a big customer of Snapnames, nothing wrong here. Just an opportunity for them to buy domains in auction, that they couldn't catch themselves.
I have often seen them in auctions I was in.

BTW I think you should change the logo for SnoopNames.com, it looks very much like an old logo of Snapnames and they have already sued domainers in the past (ie. swapnames.com)

I am not referring to buydomains using snapnames like the rest of us (I see saggyd there all the time), im talking about buydomains being the actual catcher (between 2-2:47 you see the dns with their info). I am keeping an eye on things and others should too.

this is definitely happening with snapnames prerelease names. almost always with the best names instead of going to auction they go straight to buydomains. disgusting behavior by snapnames.

How do you know that the catch by buydomains has anything to do with snapnames?

Posted this to snapnames support, suggest everyone do the same with any you have found. The more of us that hit them with facts, the more likely they are to correct any shady behavior:

My post:
Confused why Buydomains.com is awarded domains without going to auction despite multiple bids from other parties via snapnames prerelease. Please explain. Recent examples below:

14-Oct-2015 xxxxxx.com
21-Oct-2015 xxxxxx.com
22-Oct-2015 xxxxxx.com
09-Nov-2015 xxxxxx.com
09-Nov-2015 xxxxxx.com
09-Nov-2015 xxxxxx.com
12-Nov-2015 xxxxxx.com

Snapnames reply:
Auctions for domain names are never active until the date specified via our website. Until that time, the registrant for a domain is still within a grace period to renew. Renewal of a domain by the registrant is the most common reason domains would not go to auction.

My reply:
Understood, unfortunately that is not the case with the domains I have cited. I have archived whois details of the previous owners for each domain just before they went into snapnames prerelease and not one of the 7 names were owned by Buydomains.com. Again, why is Buydomains.com awarded domains without going to auction despite multiple bids from other parties via snapnames prerelease?

This appears to have happened to me, I've backordered a domain which ends today, i've just checked to what's going on. The whois is saying BuyDomains.com owns it. :/

Google "Nelson Brady". It's a shady business.
