Hi guys

Anybody got an idea what Snapnames means when it show's a status of 'acquiring domain' in the pending orders tab for an extended time?

I bid on a domain that dropped yesterday evening (16 hours ago) and should either take ownership of the domain or be involved in an auction. I've bought quite a few domains from Snapnames and have never seen this before...

Thanks

'acquiring domain' means just that, it is attempting to catch the domain when it drops, it will stay that way until it actually drops later on tonight.

The domain was due to drop yesterday. I can only assume that this is a bug with Snapnames.

You mean you placed a backorder on a name that has still not dropped yet, if it is still saying "aquiring name" then there is still a good chance it has yet to drop as far as i know.

If it had dropped yesterday and was snagged by another drop company you should have got an email saying that snap failed to catch it and it would not be showing as "aquiring name".

There again, a bug is also possible but I doubt it.

Thanks for the responses, but the domain was definitely supposed to drop on March 17th.

I've done a quick google on this issue and have found posts from the past on this forum and elsewhere, and others have also found this problem.

Ah well, will just have to wait for Snapnames to get their act together

You could also try sending a PM to Kjel here at NPros, he either works at snapnames or owns it ?

2 days later I'm still seeing "Acquiring Name" in pending orders for the domain i should have secured on Saturday. Anyone else seen this before?

My orders from Saturday have all gone ok... although I have had problems like that before.

Check the whois on the names and see if they were netsol names (So they use the priority partner T&C's) or if they were a free-for-all (Wow, now there's a misnomer on so many levels.) and somebody else got it.

The name wouldn't happen to be c10.com would it?

Because I can see it on my pending auctions also.

Weird thing is it's in auction at pool with a bid of $1,260.00 with 2 hours to go.

So look like Snap missed it and either it wasn't a netsol name OR no one bid on it until less than 72 hours until it "dropped".

so who takes ownership of the domain? the highest bidder at snap or the highest bidder at pool, or someone else?

sorry - just a tad confused.

Pool.com (If the domain is "correctly" there - I've heard a couple reports where they have taken back names from "winners" recently due to clerical errors on Pool.com's part as to whether or not Pool.com should have had the name to begin with...)
Snapnames apparently missed it.

Futureboy and Gazzip called it. c10.com dropped and was missed by us on the 17th, so if today it still shows "acquiring domain" in your account for that name it is a bug. Futureboy, please email me (kjel@snapnames) with your SN username and I'll have someone take a look.

Thanks for taking the time to post Kjel - just wondering...do you work at snapnames or do you own it ?

I'm a cog in the SnapNames.com machine. While I have a 'sense of ownership' with SnapNames, that's not quite the same thing is it.
