Hey everyone - Just wanted to bring this to the attention of the community and see if this has happened to anyone else.

I had an auction ending on Saturday on Flippa, and as soon as I added the BIN, I got the following email:

XXXX.com Has been listed for sale on freesiteworth.com

XXXX.com is now listed for sale on Freesiteworth.com ! Enjoy your free listing and reach out thousands of potential buyers:
http://flip.freesiteworth.com/listings/2582/Premium-LLLL-with-a-call-to-action-Rare-opportunity
To make change to your lisiting , you should login as XXXX.

Retrieve your password using the following link: http://flip.freesiteworth.com/users/forgotpassword
If you want your listing removed, delete it at FreeSiteWorth.com or Contact Us

Best Regards,
FreeSiteWorth.com
I'm going to have it removed in a day or two but just wanted to leave it up for the sake of this dialogue.

I've never had this happen before - thoughts?

Bobby

Something like this happened to me with a similar company. I was told it was a scam where the company who does the scraping either tries to get its victims to login and provide sensitive data or pay for the listing. My suggestion would be to ignore it.

PS After it happened to me I even got a notification that someone was interested in buying my domain name. Again, all part of the scam.

Wow. I hadn't considered that. I'l leave it alone. Thank you for sharing that info.

Free exposure?
Best I can see to this.
Lots of sites scrape all sorts of stuff all the time.
I don't scrape to get domains onto my new blog,
I just offer free exposure, nothing else.
From domain owners.

This didn't link back to the original auction, though. And the domain sold...so now there is a false 30 day listing out there that I didn't create for a domain that I will no longer own.

I can't really see your positive take on this.

Do you think it was the buyer? I guess the buyer listed it for sale before his sale with you had been finalized?

I don't think so. The wording of that email implies that they just scraped it, created an account with the name of the domain, and that I can request the password to log in and use it.

I received this very same email last week, and I replied asking for the domain to be removed from their site immediately, as I did not authorize the listing. I received an email hours later saying it had been removed.

I personally would ignore the email and add them to your spam. Junk companies pull that scammy stuff frequently. Complete the transaction sale as you normally would, and don't worry about the fake listing.

*Be cautious if you are choosing to click on the email and/or respond. Sometimes that is all the scammers want or need to authenticate your email address, and other info. Congrats on the sale.

I agree with you @RevolutionaryDomains. I took a big risk responding to the email. I would recommend placing safety measures on your accounts to keep anyone from being able to transfer domains out of your account without your authorization- just in case.

Just happened to me as well about an hour ago. I contacted them via their webpage letting them know I did not authorize this post nor have I heard of them/signed up with them.
Im not too sure howd theyd get access to anything of yours just by making a listing with one of your domains up. Someone tries to "buy it" what can they say, hold on lemme um...

Ill just block them and disregard. All ya really can do me thinks.

Got the exact same email this morning, have just marked it as spam. My listing has had a BIN since it started about 10 days ago. Very strange goings on
