Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

Still not a answer to my question...They chose a .com, now it’s a matter of if it’s a good domain/branding perspective. It’s terrible. They’re better off buying Cannastore and growing a real business site.
.gov or .ca isn’t worldwide, .com is. It all comes down to what the Canadian gov wants to do with the site. Why focus on a few when you can focus on many?Still not a answer to my question...
Why does the majority of States ( equal to provinces in Canada) use the (dot)gov not (com) for there sites!
Pretty most Canadian government site use (dot)ca
Why would a official Canadian government site want to go worldwide?.gov or .ca isn’t worldwide, .com is. It all comes down to what the Canadian gov wants to do with the site. Why focus on a few when you can focus on many?
I see many horrible domains being used here in Canada.
Yeah, i cringe when i go to conferences and see the domains being used. Some companies get it, many don't.The local dispensary that I go to has an online store that uses canadaonlinethc dot com

Why would anyone use .ca .us .tv or .whatever when they can own .com? This is the difference between amateurs and pros in the online business world.
The problem is that technically speaking, the gov't has a monopoly on cannabis. Any canna business outside of the gov't (or it's producers/suppliers) is operating in the 'grey area' of the law. That why you hear about all of these small local dispensaries being raided. They didn't legalize it for the people. It's just a big cash grab for the gov't.
I think we can agree that the cannabis laws aren't exactly where they need to be -- they are a work in progress and will take time. In the meantime, if you are a canna business owner operating in that grey area, are you willing to shell out a bunch of cash for a super premium .com? You could be shut down at any time, and forced to start fresh.
We haven't even seen the start of the cannabis .com rush. Once the people are able to take the monopoly out of the government's grubby paws, allowing small cannabis businesses to operate 100% legally.. buckle up because it'll be a wild ride.
**disclaimer - I firmly believe that 99.5% of all domains listed in this thread will never sell, regardless of how wild the ride is. #stopreggingcrap #adoptdontshop

Alberta's government sales site is albertacannabis.org.... They probably didn't even look for the .ca or .com.
BC's site domain was obviously a hand reg.
Anyways other than bad domains, it's awesome Cannada legalized! Lobbyists from big pharma, alcohol, tobacco and other industries tried very hard to keep Cannabis illegal here "it didnt work" . Now unfortunately big pharma, tobacco and alcohol are buying up the sector.
.ca is fine for regional sales. Having both .ca and .com is best obviously.
True! But that’s interesting Alberta is using a .org!
Just picked up CBD Medication in Org.

i'll pass on the .org's, i have a couple defensive .org regs that's it.
I do not believe it has anything to do with the government trying to make it a monopoly.

Note in the middle of this video how the
Information center is to breakdown the stigma on " old fashioned mindsets " . Note the branding of their brands, and look in their retail store. Clean, updated, not a marijuana and or pot name referenced by this Billion Dollar enterprise.
Even here, guys get with the times on logos. If your going to spend time on making your domain alive, use it to update. See Canopy growth and their family of brands.
To answer. Com, spefic to Cannabis
These Canadian very large agri business are looking south twords the USA markets and beyond. They don't want to be perceived and boxed in regionally, .com solves this (on the domain side).
The same goes with mmj ( although I have hundreds ) , who's going to get stuck with that if ones market goes recreational, a branding nightmare.
The USA market will play out differently than our friends to the north. It's a state by state play if not county and town by village play. Many more startups tens of thousands. It's how the legislation is enacted it's not a national play, despite brands that will attempt too be perceived as such.
It was a huge day for the industry, every major network produced Cannabis segments, didn't see a negative story amongst them. Just discussion about what a great opportunity for business and consumer alike.
It's all starting to read like Canna Confusion to me..which was my initial take when I was looking for a name to hand-register for yesterday to mark the day. In Ontario, tech is king over bricks-and-mortar, with walk-in's not allowed until April 1st. It's like an April Fools joke gone wild, really.Thought that said Cannafucian, the weed wisdom of China.
Well, Canfucian is free, nice typo.
