Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

Happy New Year, everyone. Let's hope it's a profitable year.

Just sold my first for the year through my website. "Canna" + location .com domain for $200. It was another hand reg.

Just saw these two auctions close within minutes of each other:

E Liquid Store (.) com sold for $155 @ DropCatch (open public auction)
E Liquid Shop (.) com sold for $450 @ SnapNames (closed private auction)

The $155 win was a maxed out proxy bid, so I could have picked up the -store version for $160, which I should have done. But I thought the -shop version would close for less, considering that it was in a private auction (the $155 -store winner was somebody who entered the auction thanks to it being public, not somebody who had BO'ed the name), so I aimed to pick up that one for less instead. But eventually it sold for 3X more, which was a bit surprising.

Also, Maryland Marijuana (.) COM sold for $329 last month in a pre-release auction.

Where is medicinal cannabis legal in Australia?

Federal Government
Medicinal cannabis use is still illegal and only available through trials and limited special access schemes.
But, earlier this year, the Federal Government passed legislation legalising the cultivation of cannabis for medicinal purposes.

Queensland
Queensland doctors will soon be able to prescribe it for their patients' treatment. New laws will give certain specialists including oncologists, paediatric neurologists and palliative care specialists the right to prescribe medicinal cannabis from March 2017. Other doctors would be able to apply to Queensland Health for permission to prescribe the drug for patients with certain conditions.

Tasmania
The State Government announced in April specialist medical practitioners would be allowed to prescribe the drug to patients suffering serious and chronic illness from 2017.

NSW
In July, NSW Premier Mike Baird said 40 children in the state with the most severe cases of drug-resistant epilepsy would now have access to a cannabis-based treatment under a compassionate access scheme.
NSW is conducting a trial for patients suffering vomiting and nausea as a result of chemotherapy.

Western Australia
The WA Government previously said it would not conduct medicinal cannabis trials until it received the results of testing in New South Wales.

Northern Territory
Not legal.

South Australia
In April, SA Health Minister Jack Snelling ruled out changing the law in South Australia at this stage.

Victoria

It's legal here. It was the first state to pass legislation legalising the use of medicinal cannabis.

So all those ASX listed companies that are dealing in cannabis and cannabis related medicinal/pharmaceutical related research/development/products are wasting their money?

Yeah, mainly just for medicinal purposes, big difference...you will struggle though, even if you had .com.au it would be a tough sell...net.au is hardly used in Oz

No state has made Pot legal though, just medicinal purposes and a few drug trials

The words dont really go with whats mentioned about though, if it was something like MedicalMarijuana.com.au, then maybe it might have a little value

So all those ASX listed companies that are dealing in cannabis and cannabis related medicinal/pharmaceutical related research/development/products are wasting their money?

No, but what names are they using, this name will struggle either way

Good luck though

Showcase and Discuss Marijuana/Pot/Hemp/Cannabis domains <<< what this thread is about
Not Discussing legality, usability, marketability of cannabis
Apparently you haven't typed into a browser the domain name to actually see the content.
BTW I also have several canna related aussie names.

They appear to be new regs. Brandable names are tough, as they appeal to fewer buyers, so pricing can be difficult.

Of them KushPill is your best name, IMO. Though the plural would be stronger, I'm still surprised the singular was available.

LeafyBites & StickyCafe stand out above the rest. Might need to develop them, or simply pound pavement for an end-user.

The remaining names, meh! If they were mine I'd drop. Again, IMO.

Honestly, if they were mine I'd drop them all, but others here may have a different opinion.

If you actually had holly weed you'd have a winner, but the extra y kills it for me. Same story for weed bytes. Bites would be great, but bytes being a computer term just doesn't do it for me. Again, IMO.

Some great names dropping from time to time can be found on GD auctions, and there's always aftermarket buys.

Thanks. I agree with the bytes being related to tech industry and i am adding it to the weed industry. Weedbites was already taken and i did some search on domains sold with bytes and there were few such as beautybytes, homebytes, taxbytes that were sold and hence i went ahead and reg. Hollyweed would have been great but then weedy is very common term in marijuana industry and it rhymed well with holly and ofcourse the hollyweed prank added much flavor to that name so i reg. The other names specially dopetoursim, dopebusiness, hashishseeds has generated a lot of traffic lately. So i am hoping there seems some interest in there. I have a year to go still so lets see.
