the domain is EnviroCars.org - will expire in next day or two....

I already own a name like this "carfuel.org" so I was thinking of just dropping this one as it doesn't get hardly any organic traffic and I might be better concentrating on my other one.

Would you renew it and why?

I don't see any potential in this name unless you are developing it, Drop it imo.

Renew. The amount of names I've seen regd 6-10 years ago that must have looked ridiculous at the time but which turned out to be fantastic investments is astounding.
EnviroCars might mean nothing right now, but it's on a good extension and we all know the future is going to be more environmentally friendly vehicles. Put up an informational site and see what happens.

Don't be fooled, don't listen to those that say drop a good name just so they can snatch it up. EnviroCars.org can be a great information resource on "green" vehicles.

Drop it!

The name is a bit brandable and therefore worth low $xx. However, if you don't plan to develop it and it doesn't have enough traffic to be self-sufficient for renewal etc, then what's the point in keeping it?

see if the company that owns both the net and com wants the green org it before you drop it lol

I was going to drop it but I do have another similar domain EcoGreenCars.info which I have recently developed into a nice wordpress site but that domain expires at the end of this month and is only a .INFO so maybe I should renew EnviroCars.org and use the ecogreencars.info website for it?

I see no potential. Renewing it would be a waste of money IMHO.

I would drop it unless you plan on developing it. I could see it having $xxx value if developed properly.

Keep it

Keep the name. It's a two word domain, .org's and green are gaining popularity as .com's are selling out. It addresses an industry in a general way and the domain name could mean many things.

It's a small investment to keep it. It could pay off big in the future. Find a good site, park it and put it up for sale and auction if you want to sell it.

Keep this in mind. Any one of the persons telling you to drop the name could be waiting in the wings with a backorder for that domain so you dropping it could be to their advantage.

Unless you have 1000's of parked domains or those few golden domain names that generate the direct traffic you want, don't buy domain names for the purpose of making a living from parking income. Just making enough parked income to pay for the domain name yearly registration fee is difficult enough. Remember, the parking site takes their cut of your parking income before you get yours. Park them only for the potential sale exposure or develop the domains into sites yourself.

Anything with two words in .com and .org...keep.

Yikes!!

Anyways, I liked your idea of transferring over the WP site from ecogreencars.info

But, it looks like your decision has been made and the name wasn't renewed

This isn't really the forum for discussion (outside of his appraisal request), but, I'll explain my comment briefly.

If I'm reading your statement correctly, you are saying that any two words put together in the .com or .org extension are worth money.

If that was the case we'd all be shooting fish in a bucket.

Two word domains

You read it correctly. If they aren't worth anything now, chances are that they will be in the future. All it takes is a new trend or fad to arise and what was considered a terrible domain name yesterday could be worth money tomorrow. It all depends on just how much of a speculator you are and can afford to be.

Single letter domains, two, three, four letter domains, number domains, and one word domains are only available on the open market these days. Most good two word domains are next in line expecially if they are .com or .org.

Of course you have to use some common sense when selecting two word domains. You can't just willy nilly put two words together and expect it to be valuable, but then again you never know what's just around the corner in this marketplace. This industry is still considered in its infancy so it's way too soon to discount anything related to domain name trading.

Alright, thanks for the information.

As for myself, I can't afford to be that much of a speculator by holding onto names that are 'considered a terrible domain name'.

Best of luck with your ventures.

Thanks for the feedback everyone and it has helped a lot.

In the end I decided to buy a new domain EcoFriendlyCar.net and I'm now using the old expired EnviroCars.org website while 301 redirecting my other soon to expire domain EcoGreenCars.info.
