domain Should I purchase these domains based on domain name valuations?

I am looking to purchase 2 domain names (both .com and .co.uk as it is UK based). I have used both estibot.com and domainindex.com which have gave me valuations of $340 estibot.com to $2080 domainindex.com.

I don't won't to disclose the domain names for obvious reasons but would it be worth my while to purchase the domains based on the fact both these websites have given me valuations in these ranges. I know of another domain name that's very similar but applicable to another country sold for $3588 in 2014. Thanks in advance.

Okay thanks for the reply. I just thought it was interesting that another domain which is almost identical except the location sold for $3588. The location I am looking to purchase it for seems just as good if not better because of the population and tourism that it gets every year. That coupled with the appraisals that estibot and domainindex seems logical that you would at least get your money back if not a good ROI. I'm really new to this though, only been doing it a week or 2.

Can I just ask what the purpose of websites such as estibot and domainindex are if the valuations that they give are not accurate or don't give you any indication as to what the domain could be worth to a seller or buyer?

This is a better indication of value than the automatic appraisals.

You purchase a domain based on what you are gonna use it for as a domainer or end user and also off of actual stats.

Are these for development or are you going to resell them? You should blot out any thoughts of the price these services have given you. Are these handregs or existing domains? If existing domains. Are they being sold anywhere (Sedo/GoDaddy/Etc) or do they have live websites?

The domains are for reselling stub and will be registered for standard .com and .co.uk price. My logic behind investing in the domains was that as mentioned previously, another domain that is identical but for another city sold for $3588 recently. Further to that the location the domain is for is one of the most visited cities in the world and has a population 3-4 times the one that sold for $3588. I then checked estibot.com etc.. to see the type of valuation it was giving and it seemed like it would be worthwhile going ahead with it. I'm surprised no one has already purchased the domain but that could be a bad sign I suppose.

Worth noting that ESTIbot is only an estimation, length of name, numbers and letters etc, don'y take it too seriously, nothing replaces the human gut instinct and experience

as far as I know estibot use Adwords to estimate a domain price, if cpc and number searcher per month high, they will give high price for that domain! if I were you, as long the domain name short and have value with adwords I will take it! but it doesn't mean some ppl will buy that domain for $xx,xxx! ,
don't forget to check sedo appraisal, cause for some reason,I Prefer with sedo free apraisal, and last week they help me to figure it out which niche that are profitable for adsense, so I think sedo free apraisal are worth to consider and test! its free anyway, so no one lose

I think your question has already been answered... When I started out, I used Estibot pretty much all the time to value my domains, but you soon learn how misleading this tool can be. Domains are worth what people are willing to pay. I no longer use any valuation tools - I just make sure I do my research, and use the experience of others right here on NP!
