I am not financially very sound as of now. Because I've been earning in Indian Rupees and spending in USD :D

Should I buy some cool .pro names ? Just need some inputs.

Thanks,
Pratik

Well are you going to make use of these .pro domains, like will you be developing or looking to sell them?

One word.....NO!

Last I checked you can not eat .pro's and they do not provide much shelter from the rain. A good rule of thumb: " Buy food, then domains" :imho:

lol..ok..the situation is not that bad :D Just want to make sure that my 50$ doesn't become 0.50 $. I don't care if I can't sell them for higher price.

Thanks,

I think you should buy one or two or...

I see a bright future for .pro (better than biz, info etc.) as it sounds as the best extension against .com.

So yes, go for it!!!

I think .pro is pretty risky right now. You'll either make out like a bandit, or maybe lose all you spent.

Remember that even if everything works out and names being registered are okay, the renewals next year are $99 each minimum. Ten names will cost you a grand in $US to renew (and even more in rupees) if you don't sell before then.

Glad to hear it, thought I was going to have to start a $NP food drive or something. :D

I think no. Price is still too high to make any headway.

Yeah... wasn't there some recent concerns regarding .PRO and the future of the names sold already?? There's a thread lurking here abouts on the topic... I'd look for it! :tu:

Pratiknaik, in my opinion the $.50 scenario is more probable than not! Also, I don’t think the renewal cost Adorable mentioned is relevant, because if you can renew them, you will as Adorable said “You'll make out like a bandit”.

The biggest risk is that ICANN will make a retroactive rule change which will prohibit most of the recent .PRO registrations from being renewed, including yours. As Adorable eluded to, a boatload of .PRO name holders (a boat that I am currently on) will wave goodbye as their domains and reg fees sink like the Titantic (drop without renewal).

If domains are a hobby, one .PRO is fantastic. For $50, look at the fun you can have with the name for a year. In addition, there is somewhere between 25% to 75% chance you could keep it and it will be worth even more.

However, .PROs should not be considered if you cannot tolerate any risk.

if you understand the "situation", ....... yes, buy them if you can afford to keep them for a while. but I would consider them to be $100/year names, not $50/year names.

I noticed today, ebay has three .PRO domains listed.

I think that name is taken, and it's listed on Great Domains.

No, they wouldn't list sdjhdjshfkafjadscnajsdcjewhf23987y9hf.com

However, they might list sdjhdjshfkafjadscnajsdcjewhf23987y9hf.TV
