I've had the good fortune of selling several .Pro domains on Afternic and Sedo. When presented with an otherwise reasonable offer, I still tend to favor initiating an auction, if only to raise the profile of the .Pro extension. In other words, given the arduous manner in which .Pro has thus far been rolled out to the public, I hardly expect such auctions to draw competitive bids (ie. macau.pro, reno.pro and photography.pro all sold at their respective reserve prices). The above notwithstanding, two recent auctions suggest an improving market for .Pro domains. The first auction, commenced 2/12/07, on PLAY.pro, followed from an initial bid of $1000 USD. During the auction, a second bidder entered at $1050 USD. The first bidder countered with $1200 USD, causing the auction to be extended. Sedo then entered a proxy bid on behalf of the second bidder in the amount of $1222 USD. In the end, on 2/16/07, the first bidder took the auction at $1272 USD. The second Sedo auction, on FOTO.pro, has some 19+ hours remaining as of this posting, and, IMHO, is the real charm. I began the auction on 2/15/07, following an initial bid of $3500 USD. A second bidder entered on 2/19/07, at $3600 USD. As of this morning, the bidding was up to $3800 USD. To be continued.......
