Hi Pros,

I need your collective guidance on this matter.
I am intrested in buying an NLL.org Domain name

E.g 1AA.org

The Sellers says $3999 or No deal. Do you Pros think it's ok to pay such an amount for such a domain.

I wanted to buy it and resale it later on.

Estibot and all other tools appraised it above $5000.

What will YOU pay for such a name. And as a reseller , how much will you sell such a name.

Lastly, does these type of name sell easily in the market place these days?

Thanks for your response

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
Impossible to say without knowing the name.

But the name is worth whatever you want (and can afford) to pay.

(I'm thinking it's almost certainly not worth it if you're buying with intent to resell)

For a rough guide to values of three character domains see: http://3character.com/

$4000 for a NLL.org is REALLY high, unless you have a use OR it is a very common NLL combination...

I have a LNL.com I am trying to sell for $650 here on the forum... I also have a NNN.org ( a New York area code ) I am trying to sell for $900.. so the market isnt exactly jumping to buy stuff.. I personally wouldnt pay $4000 for any NLL.org I could think of off the top of my head...

Estibot is close to useless as far as value... Its a neat tool, a good for the stats it provides but not the value...

I wouldn't recommend paying that much for a nll.org either unless there's something I'm missing.

i would advice you to avoid buying anything right now and just go on and read and learn what makes a domain valuable , don't buy anything until you will reach a point that you are really comfortable and assure with what you are doing .

like the guys above me wrote , sounds like a lot of money for NLL.org

As mentioned before be careful putting reliance on automated appraisals, such as estibot....I have quite a few domains that appraise over $5000 but have trouble selling them for $100.

Valuation for that type of domain: regfee.

I view the domain as worthless (or near reg fee). If the domain is for a sport site, I would find something better.

Here is a great example for you...

I just looked at the New Posts here and I see this LLN.org for sale...

http://www.namepros.com/domains-for-sale-fixed-price/709938-10-ib9-org.html

ib9.org @ $10

estibot says its worth $820 but its not.

Listen to everyone here and read a LOT before making any purchase...

unless you want a great dot TV for $4k...then I have a bunch of killer deals for ya! :)

Good Luck,
Vito

Thanks to you all for
the sincere advice.

But one thing that I would
really love to know is:

What KIND of domain is SURE
to sell in the market place
these days.

---------------------------
I was once told that If I can
get a Short Keyword Domain name of
not more than 14words which get
an exact search of 5000 per month
I can be sure to get a buyer who
will be willing to pay at least
$xxx for it.
-------------------------------

How true is This assertion, Has it
worked for any of you?

It's nonsense.

For that money - buy yourself an LLL.com - I have just sold one for $4500 which is much better than minimum quality. $4k should get you a pretty decent LLL.com domain.

If that's true than you MAY be able to sell it for around $500, if you are lucky.

I don't want to insult you, but from what I have read you should NOT be buying domain names with the idea that you will be able to sell them in less than 1 year and make a lot of money. You are posting on the newbie forum and while you may get some good advice here, I doubt you will be able to use it to buy a domain that you can resell quickly or for a large profit.

a NLL.org domain name generally will not sell for much unless the name is really, really good. It's not a .com or a .net and so has limited end-user buyers. Then you have a number and 2 letters which may be hard to find a meaning for.

In my opinion, Estibot will show you the potential price for a domain if you find an end-user who really wants it, needs it, and has lots of money. By lottery tickets instead as they are cheaper.

For buying and selling domains, take Estibot's estimate and plan on finding a buyer that will pay you maybe 5%-10% of the apraisal. Even then you will be a very lucky person and should buy a few lottery tickets each week because you just might win...!

I have gotten better tips and knowledge from all
your comments than what any e-book can offer.

All I have to say is a big thank you to all who
contributed.

-------------------------------------

I have a Question:

Now I so scared to buy or register any
name. So what is the way to go?

I see different types of names being sold
everyday. From the NNNs to LLLs and there
are the "short dictionary words" and
I also see "keyword domain names" like
{PainRelief} and the likes ....being sold
for $x,xxx and even $xx,xxx

So pros, What kind of names can a newbie
start with.

I mean with a small budget.

Thank you all for your response.
