Shill bidding

Curious as a followup to snapnames shilling scandal. Should I be concerned that other auction, drop houses participate in that as well? The reason being is, I won a name on XYZ for low $$$$ and when the other bidder dropped out, they had three days to pay yet I was contacted in two days to procure the name. I overpaid, but decided to purchase anyway. Caveat emptor....but now I'm concerned.

Gina, are you working for the .xyz registry? There has been lots of suspicion that the .xyz has employed sock puppets to start discussions about BS .xyz topics to give the impression that it's somehow valuable.

I'm not making this up. This suspicion has been expressed multiple times on this forum and I have to admit that a $x,xxx .xyz sale sounds pretty darn fishy....though not completely impossible. It is probably the least most desired extension, because it's the fugliest and makes the least amount of sense.

Namefu...uh no I don't work for .xyz lol. Ahh conspiracy theories abound! Personally that extension is utter crap There I said it. I started this thread about shill bidding, and I only used it as a place holder for the name in question, I could have said .911, or .sun. The point being I was trying to be discreet. Mine was a .info.

H4CK3R worrying you say? Suggesting what exactly? Caveat Emptor as they say. Well it was on the 1 k scale. Yes I likely over paid, or paid enduser prices, which is what I am in this case. I kind of play both sides. One of the dangers of getting swept in an auction. Too rich for my blood!

Seems high for expiring/drop auction. If you're an end user within your budget it doesn't matter.

Yes unfortunately, this is still going on in 2014...the offenders don't even bother to hide their tracks very well.

i'm sure there are more, but that alias leads to some evidence if you dig a little..not sayin platform as i can't be 100% sure despite very very very fishy appearances...perhaps someone who has also dealt with this bidder can second my claims.
