Sever location other than target country

I live in Turkey and will publish e commerce web site
but something bothering me
since i dont trust/like hosting companies in turkey
i use hostgator located usa


my question is
how does it affect search ranking if somebody make search in turkey

Some people say that hosting location have a very small impact on sites that are geographically targeted to some region. But this factor is small and will not mean much. I will suggest to get hosting at Hostgator as a stable host is a must need if you want to rank good in SERPs. SEs do not like to see downtimes. I have all my sites hosted at HG and some of these sites rank good in regions other than USA.

Server location is not very important. Maybe just for speed. If you are located in USA and your visitors comes from Turkey, the speed can be a problem. Anyway, you can set in Webmaster tools the location.

MInor issue

The location would be very minor. I'd make sure that I had a .tr (Turket extension) if possible if I was trying to attract TYurkish traffic.
