There are actually several large companies that use this name. Do a google search for "primus".

Basically, the situation is that I might attempt to purchase this from it's current owner for another "Primus" company that is also large (I'm doing their website). I want to know roughly what to offer, or know somehow what they might expect for it.

Knowing that, wouldn't an appraisal be in order?

Actually, I quite like the domain name ... what kind of traffic/stats might you inherit if you acquire the domain name, IYHO? Can you provide some more information as to what was on the site prior, how long it was up, and how willing the owner's are to now selling the domain name? For an actual appraisal ... what other factors might we consider? :gl:
I'm betting these folks might offer a solid "premium" for the domain name, as well!

I am not exactly sure about the traffic - but I do know that it's ranked about 25,000 on Alexa.com (which doesn't say a whole lot, but I guess it says something). It was a business called Primus Knowledge Solutions before hand, and was bought out by ATG (the page it redirects to tells all about it).

I do believe there would be TM issues for just anyone to get this domain, but I am thinking of getting this for a company that does business under this name.

Does this company (the one you're potentially getting it for) have the ™ on file at: www.uspto.gov

If so, as a "Complainant" they MAY be able to acquire this domain name by judgement, rather than in the secondary market $$$ IMHO. If, however, the current owner has the registered ™ , the chances here of a "Quick Sale" (in your favor, as acquirer) are rather slim, in my view.
Have you made an offers yet for the domain name with the current owner(s)? Have they provided to you any information about how willing they'd be to perhaps sell the domain name to you and your company? Who, specifically, owns the ™ here? :gl:

You see, there is MUCH more here than simply asking for an "Appraisal" ... especially since most appraisals are targeted for the Reseller marketplace in this space.

I am not stating whether there is - or there isn't - a potetial ™ issue here with this specific term/domain name, but the thread starter has indicated that there likely IS, and, again, from what I know of general "legal issues", the blanket statement made above is not digging deep enough in to the matter, in my view. :gl:

There are rules, and reasons for them. We should all try to follow them. If the domain is not owned by the person posting it, then it is not supposed to be listed under "appraisals". Sounds like a pretty simple rule. Nobody is getting "worked up" over this, just trying to follow the rules.
