If I search for "Manchester web design" for example, it will bring up a load of results from companies that are not located in Manchester but have simply created pages on their sites which say something like:
"We provide web design to the Manchester area"
and another page which says
"We provide web design to the Oldham area"
and so on.
Sometimes the companies are in the local area, but other times they are not.
Is this an appropriate technique? I recently read an article which warned against these types of pages - but they do seem to work very well.
