Hello.

I have sold on GoDaddy in the past, but always domains that were registered on GoDaddy. So I never had to deal with the domain transfer from my account to the buyer's account. GD always took care of that part.

My question is when selling on GoDaddy domains that are registered elsewhere.

How does it work exactly?
Once GD confirm the funds are received I suppose I have to use the "Email buyer" link in the "Sold" view.

From there I can ask the buyer to push on same registrar. But if he refuses and want the domain on GoDaddy. Am I going to have to pay myself for the transfer or is it something he has to pay?

When is GoDaddy going to release the funds? How do they know the domain has been pushed/transfered? What if the buyer never confirms the transfer has been done?

How does that part work exactly?
I would like to get a bit of feedback from people who are doing that regularly.

Thank you.
Dom.

Hi

I sold a domain through GD auction and the domain wasn't at GD.. Buyer paid but never replied to my multiple emails that included auth code and other details.. he never initiated transfer and got refunded while GD closed my auctions account for not transferring domain.. fuck GD

To answer the question, I recommend transferring to GD first and then auctioning there.

From my experience, it is not necessary. I had sales of names registered at many other registrars. As OP stated, I had to provide EPP codes and two additional codes from GoDaddy as well through the Email buyer link and then wait for transfer to complete. No complaints from buyers side for transfer expenses so far.

Few times I had to contact [email protected] to help me, since there was no action from my buyers side after I emailed him, but found GD always on top of the task here.

Overall, this way you will have to wait little longer for process to be completed and you to receive the funds in comparison to the case when your domain sits at GoDdaddy.

What @thedotsol said. That's been my experience as well. And to answer your question specifically:

Yes

No. You only provide the auth/epp code and confirm the transfer request (when you get the email from the registrars in question). Of course, it is obvious that with the new transfer policies, we need to be sure that the domain is transferable.

When is GoDaddy going to release the funds? How do they know the domain has been pushed/transfered? What if the buyer never confirms the transfer has been done?
Takes about 21 days unless the transaction is canceled due to issues from one of the sides. It took slighly longer for me but they did come through.

What I did not fully understand is that GD charged me $10-15 extra which they blamed on my bank. But my bank does not charge for receiving wire transfers so I have no idea where that money was lost
