Hi, I currently have a Compaq laptop....you will probably laugh at the "stats" and that's why I am selling it and buying a better one.

Stats of my current one:
-17" monitor ( looks very nice, however not very portable!!!)
-1 gig ram (upgrade needed!!!!)
-150 gig hard drive (upgrade please?!?!?!?)
-VISTA(I am gunna die if i dont get XP back again soon!!!!!)

Ok, so I am selling this for about $500.

I wish to buy a laptop with:

-About a 15" screen
-About 3 gig ram
-250 gig or so hard drive
-XP

I also want these on my new laptop:

-A better video card
-A "wire enhancer" (not sure the exact name but I want to be able to get wireless networks farther away)

I will also be using this for:

-Light gaming (just WoW, AoC...not a huge gamer but WoW is a memory hog!!)
-Browsing, chatting, etc( I know this doesnt sound like much, but I always have a TON of things running (Firefox, aim, msn, yahoo messenger, an ftp client, and more)

My budget for this new laptop with be around 1k(1,000 USD).

This is where you come in!!!:

-Do you think my current one is worth $500? I bought it for $700 and used only about 4 weeks
-Where can I get a computer like that I want for about 1k(1,000 USD)???

Suggestions wanted and appreciated, thanks!!

Also post any questions you might have...

You should be able to get $500 for it, even on eBay.

Go to NewEgg.com for a large selection of laptops with good prices. I have been buying EVERYTHING computer related from them for years. They are fantastic and their shipping is the fastest I've ever seen.

Good luck.

I'll trade you a domain or some old comic books for it. ;)

I just bought a new Dell notebook for $399 with better stats than that, but you could probably get $500 on eBay if you buy a featured listing and make sure it's filtered out from all the crap on there.

As Brian said, NewEgg has a good selection and lightning fast shipping. A good alternative would be customizing one of Dell's notebooks. I know Dell usually has more of a home/business nature, but you can get a decent light gaming system for cheap. :imho:

The exact package isn't for sale, but here are some specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 (1.7GHz/512KB)
15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA LCD Anti-Glare Display
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 DIMMs
Video: ATI Radeonยฎ Xpress 1150 256MB HyperMemory
HD: 120G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
8X DVD+/-RW w/Double-layer DVD+R Write Capability
Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Wi-Fi Mini Card

:red:

I suppose the stats aren't as good -- I thought I had 2GB RAM/250GB hard drive, but I was wrong.

Really? :-/ I thought that Dell has a crap rep & always has issues with their systems. Or is it only with their desktops?

I buy all my computer stuff from Newegg.com, you should definitely check them out. Recently bought a Lenovo tablet PC from them and it arrived 2 days later.
