What suggestions would you give for selling a domain on godaddy? Would you pay for the preferred listing on the top page? Should you set a high opening bid price or at the minimum you would take? Can you try to sell a domain you have registered at another place? Any other suggestions?

Can you try to sell a domain you have registered at another place?

Yes, you can do that.

First I would list as Premium domain (30% commission on a sale). That way GoDaddy does all the marketing efforts to sell it.

Rmg, can you please tell how to list domain as premium?

Go to your domain manager on Go Daddy, select the domains you wish to list, and scroll over the $ symbol for the option to sell as a premium.

You can but I don't suggest that. I'm in the middle of such a transaction right now and I'm the buyer. It is an absolute nightmare. The Godaddy website is not integrated to the transaction in any way. Godaddy says the buyer and the seller need to handle the transfer on their own outside Godaddy and there is no way for Godaddy to confirm this. The transfer of the domain is not part of the transaction. There is no step by step menu to follow through. There is no input area to enter a transfer code. There is no button to click once you have the domain. There is no button to click if you don't get the domain. There is no Godaddy employee checking these transactions. In short there is nothing.

I agree with the above posts.. as far as pricing the domain, I would set the starting bid at the minimum amount you will accept.

I sold a domain at Godaddy 18 days ago on 7 Dec. However the buyer still didn't accept the domain push. I emailed the buyer twice. I emailed Godaddy once. Never heard anything back. It says:

Pending Accept Change of Account from Buyer

What happens to those sales?

I sold another domain 9 days ago and the situation is the same. I'm wondering why Godaddy doesn't automatically move the domain from one account to another.

I think in the case of account break ins... that's the only reason I think they shy away from auto transferring a domain.

The account push request gets sent to the administrative email on the domain name after purchase.

Hmmmmm... I don't know why they don't do it either. Would make it a lot easier. What did you pay on the domain, in some cases they put it into an escrow process.

I'm the seller. Both sales were under $500. Other sites like dynadot and namecheap push the domain automatically when you purchase it at their marketplace from another member.

Godaddy is rubbish as always. The reason why Godaddy doesn't move the domain is because they haven't bothered developing such a process. They have stupid managers who think if something works there is no need to pay for developers to improve it.

You should see what happens when you buy a domain that isn't registered at Godaddy. It is much worse.

I have found out what happens to domains that buyer paid, domain was pushed but buyer didn't accept the push.
What happens is you get the money from godaddy on day 20 after payment and you still have the domain.

This is what happened:
1. Buyer bought a domain and paid to Godaddy. The domain was registered with Godaddy. Because Godaddy is useless like always they have not automatically pushed the domain.
2. Godaddy asked me to click a link to initiate a push which I did.
3. The domain waited on outgoing account changes for 15 days. During that time I have send 2 emails to the buyer and 3 emails to godaddy which all of them went unanswered.
4. The domain push expired after two weeks. It doesn't show anymore in pending account changes.
5. Buyer is still not responding.
6. Godaddy has send me the payment. Now I have both the domain and the money.

Godaddy is totally rubbish.

Not too bad for you since you got free money. I had similar situation a few years ago, but the domain was expiring
