Seeking Advice: 3+ Years in Domain Investing with No Sales – What Am I Missing?

Hi everyone,

I've been in the domain industry since 2020, primarily focused on buying domains for resale. Over the last 3 years, I've built a portfolio of 50+ domains, some of which are now over 3 years old. However, I haven't been able to make a single sale so far.

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Is it my domain selection? My pricing strategy? Or is there something about my approach that I need to improve?

I’m working with a limited budget and can't afford to acquire more domains at this point. I’ve tried listing on popular marketplaces like Atom, Sedo & Afternic and the primary landing page is Atom, but I haven't seen any success yet.

Here’s my portfolio link: Rebrandable .xyz

I would really appreciate any insights or feedback from experienced investors in this community. What do you think is holding me back from making a successful sale?

Looking forward to your suggestions and guidance.

Thanks in advance!

Even with good names selling 1/50 in 3 years is far from guaranteed.

Your names are not good.

And many are priced way above any realistic chance of selling.

With what you have learned over these 3 years how would you critique your own portfolio and how do you think you can improve?

I increase the price of the domains to check how the retargeting feature of Atom works. I keep the make offer option on if any buyer is interested. Lucky experiment worked, and I'm at least getting some offers.

About knowledge, some times only parking can not confirm a good name sale, but building a site can sell a bad name.

I'm still learning. The mentioned point is not applicable for all domains. Also, I'm not outbounding yet.

BetLive.Now is definitely underpriced.

I think mezba016 was actually listing johnn's domains here, and asking why they would be considered better than his own

Since you're a senior member of this community, I hope you can understand the perspective of a newcomer. I'm simply trying to learn and improve. I noticed he also has two-word domains, and I'm genuinely curious to understand why my domains are considered less valuable. I'm not trying to compare—I'm on a mission to identify and correct my mistakes.

You've been doing this 3 years, you should know by now.

Don't worry about comparing your names to his. He might not be selling any either! Worry about comparing your names to what sells. Figure out what the gap is and close it.

Just checked the website and OP has exorbital pricing. Like 14999 USD floor - names like Helper9.com and some sort of brandables that fail radio test in several parts of the coined terms. Like lobeliy.com ablyx.com or Perfumelise.com

I wouldn't consider myself a senior member. In fact, I've actually only been here & started getting domains a few months myself. However, the single most important thing I believe that helped me learn the value of what domains should go for has been NameBio.com.

Check out the prices for what similar domains go for. For example, let's take the first domain listed on your site SurveyTomorrow.com. Do a search for domains with '[Survey]' at the start and another with '[Tomorrow]' at the end, for .coms only (include the braces & sort by price).

You'll see that even the top 20 sales starting with 'survey' only received $1,000+ and a similar story with 'tomorrrow'. So ask yourself, does your domain have what it takes to be in the top 20? Compare your words with the others there. Just from a brief look, you can already tell that your domain would be difficult to sell for above the $1,000 mark.

I like the camel-case of your personal domain name on google search, ReBrandable.xyz, it makes it a fitting and appropriate name for this line of business! You might consider taking a shot at selling it—just keep the pricing for .xyz domains in mind.

Best of luck!
