Well, Sedo have surpassed themselves this time by adding some amazingly crap .tv names to their 'PREMIUM' event.

No offense meant to those who have had their names included, but some of them are howlers.

Full list of ALL .TV names (including everyones else's) presently on auction at SEDO...

Wallstreet.tv has alreay an opening bid of $5000.
I have the same feeling about most of the listings there, sedo has weird criteria for selecting domains.
Either way I hope the best of all domains listed there.

ps: my kind of crap is other people's gold, so its only my personal estimation

A month ago the owner of WallStreet countered my offer at Sedo with 25K EUR offer :)

Good luck to all!

The one word names I submitted this time were all rejected, I just don't understand how they proceed, what are their criterias. Anyway I hope there will be very nice .tv sales ! Good luck !

Since the "big .TV auction" all Sedo premium auctions have been a joke. The only domain I'd give a second look this time around is FortLauderdale.tv. (on a good day I'd also consider confidential.tv, it could be a modern 60 minutes type of website.)

Nick, what would you do with Wallstreet.tv? Wouldn't Finance.TV, Economics.TV or Business.TV be a much better fit? I should point out that I'm looking at domains from a dev's point of view, not as a reseller.

I made some shoots recently on some different .tv domains. Just wanted to know how high the sellers want to sell their names. Wall street is a huge brand and if it was priced for example at 1K I would take it :) There are many domains owned not by domainers and I like to check owner's price expectations :)

Stocks, stock market. There was the movie Wall Street, you have Wall Street Journal. That's where the action happens, on Wall Street. I like the other ones you mentioned as well but when you hear Economics, it sounds kind of boring, like Economics class or something. Wall Street, a little different, action.

I got about 10 names I could of put in that were accepted, such as Spain.tv, Georgia.tv, etc. but they wanted me to lower the reserve. I decide against that. It's not the best sellers market right now.

The probably explains the quality complaints, if people want to get names in they need to come with a reserve where the name will probably sell. Its an auction not window shopping event.

Since the "big .TV auction" all Sedo premium auctions have been a joke.

That was also the last time someone was realistic about selling a lot of names. The registry had the chutzpah to start names like business.tv at 5k, that is why they got a lot of sales. They are saying "we are here to sell", not "if the price is really high we might sell".

If people want to see a lot of action at .tv auctions they need to be willing to sell names for what the market will pay.

LOL!!!

The one month of the year when EVERYONE disappears to the beach, mountain, or lake!
What a great way to live.

As for the auction - my $60 start names seem to be getting more bids than theirs. My BASE.tv has five bids - which is exactly the same number as all the .tv names in the so-called 'PREMIUM' auction.

Who puts the list together?....... (come to think of it, where's Jeff?)

Don't expect a sellers market for 5 to 10 years! Domains
will trend with the current market which will be down for year to come. I say if you want to recoup some cash then now is the time to sell and take some money off the table.

If I am still in this industry in 5-10 years and not with babes hanging out on my yacht retired then I really screwed up:)

On a serious note, I been in this industry for 13 years now and done very well. Everything goes in cycles and for those who were around during 2001 know what I am talking about.

They must be going off the results of Pennsylvania.tv. If I recall correct $1200 was the sales price, yes? And if anything the market has gotten tighter since then.

10 years? Naw. Not unless the economy really tanks on this upcoming "double dip" they've been advertising lately. That happens the whole Internet might disappear. :o

ET will have finally show themselves and save us. :alien:

I was contacted by Sedo to get one of my domains in there also.
I considered a very fair reserve, but they were trying to talk me into throwing it in with a no reserve price, and I am just not that confident about doing that right now.
Could I make a profit, Yes of course, but I have to agree w/Jim that the Market just seems a little soft right now.

I declined, and I am perfectly ok with that.

They want a definite sale, and If I were in THEIR position I would want the same, but me as the Seller...
Maybe another day, in a year or 2...I am in no rush at all :)

As for the names that were accapted into auction...
I dont find them bad at all.

Lets face it, There will NEVER be another auction with such stellar names (Business, Germany, Japan, etc.) as were in the Verisign/Sedo auction, ever again.

So, to Deb, and others who have had their tv domains accepted into this onths Sedo Premiere auction, I wish you all the best on your sales!

Thx,
Vito

I tried with 5 names and they were all turned down because of quality and not because of my reserve prices. Oh well :)

Pennsylvania.tv was a lost. I think it was only $1,000. In fact, I lost money on about 4 premiums but the sale of Bahamas.tv made up for all the loses. Win some, lose some, but overall ROI overall has still be very good for me in .tv so I can't complain.

same here for various names including many .TV's

SEDO = NECESSARY EVIL (at times) IMO

will never know who is actually making the decisions and what the real reasons and criteria are...could change from day to day and person to person.
