.tv I HATE the SEDO auction

I don’t want to moan (yes I do) but the reality is this: The supposed .TV auction SUCKs, big style, and here’s why:

In the ‘proper auction’ (that is where once ‘premium’ names owned by enom are now available for standard renewal) the names Black.tv, 3.tv and Real.TV are going for $1,000, $2050, and $1600 (as of this moment) - and they look as though they are heading the same $xx,xxxx way as Japan.tv, Germany.tv and RE.tv. This is because they are Visible to the world.

In the ‘not proper auction’ being held at SEDO, which takes an average of 30 second to load on the home page of SEDO all of those names are doing exactly the same. However, they are also neighboured by a great many others fron `namepros, including Schwarz.tv (Black.TV in German), Three.TV and RealLife.tv - BUT VERY FEW PEOPLE CAN SEE THEM!

Does this mean they are a bargain to the buyers and a curse to the sellers?

Whatever, I cannot let them hide away.

The full auction is available at

Domain Search*-*Sedo.com

and among those beautiful names that are available for sale are the following:

SLAM.tv
perfect for the sports or drinks markets

I am not sure what you are talking about. you have three choices when you click auctions from the activity page. I always click the first one so I see all auctions.

Why would few be able to see them ? I see them. Now if someone just goes to the .tv auction theme you are right but no one should be posting that link. Use the link that includes all auctions all extensions.

I guess everyone can use this thread to post links to their auctions for more exposure.

The latter; I expect there will be quite a few disappointed sellers having single bids on Sedo ... in the present ".TV" auctions! :gl: :imho:

Good Luck,

Not sure what the problem is, sedo auctions routinely see the vast majority of action at the last few minutes.

Lots of time left for bidding.

There should be no disappointment, its the price where the seller agreed was good enough to send to auction. That would not be disappointment but greed. IF you say you will take $100, and get $100 you should be happy you got what you asked for. Or take a look at how hard some people in the world have to work to make just $100.

100% correct Marlowe, most action in auctions comes in the last hour. I don't even think about bidding til then.

Ray

You are familiar with the system so know exactly where to look.

For most people who click on SEDO.com they are immediately faced with three large boxes:

1. Featured Domains

2. Top Domains

3. SEDO's Premium.TV Auction

NONE of these boxes go to the main auction page. And none of these boxes show any of the name put up by members from Namepros.

After a wait of about 30 seconds the second box

2. Top Domains

changes to

2. Featured Auctions

This link DOES go to the main auction page where yiu can finally see all the .TV names up for auction.

Yes, many people understand the system, but most will have some difficulty even finding the main auction page.

I have THREE.tv in auction and would VERY MUCH like it to be seen, at least near 3.TV so buyers can make their own judgment as to which they prefer.

I actually stopped even looking at Sedo because I couldn't figure out how to just find soon to end .COMs or soon to end by TLD.

This auction made me finally figure it out. The interface is really geared at "keyword" search.. which I understand... but boy you'd think it would be easier to just say "Show me all the .TV auctions".

Not sold anything on sedo since they made the change but the new system is to confusing... Unless you are used to the interface.
As it is at the moment I would be worried it is allowing a buyers market.
It a bad move that you cant filter by tld just by clicking on the top of the auctions.

While you can do this on the side bar there are too many options.

Below is the link to all of the current .tv auctions. Official or otherwise.

I use to be able to just use the catalog search tool and search
the extension and leaving the text field blank. now it wants sub
categories. :(

I agree! I think the previous sedo interface was much better and it was easy to catch auctions running out of time. This was good for buyers as well as sellers. The new interface looks good but not that easy for buyers and sellers to know things in one glance.

Just, out of interest. At the moment there are three TV names in the main SEDO TV auction that are stuck at the $9990 or $9990 figures and, seemingly, cannot cross the 10k barrier.

Is that the figure that separates the 'men from the boys'?

I see this happen all the time.
to pass into 10K territory you need to become a certified/verified bidder.

I think the "boys aka not verified bidders" have reached their limit. Now wait for the last hour mania on thursday to set in D-:

Many of the earlier bidders will stop there as final bid because they need to send papers in order to be certified for higher bids.
Thats confusing and sometimes makes you think twice or more about sending another bid which is certainly not the purpose of auctions.

I understand that it's at that auction pricing level where a bidder's validity/certification/verification occurs ... my hope is that these are bonafide End users in search of better-than-average ".TV's" for their niche development purposes; authenticating domainers for these purchases will do little, if anything, for the extension IMHO. :guilty:

Just my two sense,

A miss is as good as a mile,

Schwarz.tv is not comparable to Black.tv, Reallife.tv isn't comparable Real.tv. Even Three.tv is a long way below 3.tv (it is the only one even remotely comparable but the main reason 3.tv is worth alot is because it is a one digit name).

When these names sell for peanuts blame the names, not the auction. Fist.tv, Slam.tv and Tulip.tv great names? get real.

Snoop, once again I bow to you mighty knowledge...

'Three', of course is no where near as similar as '3' - my apologies for even thinking it could ever be anything such.

..Slam.tv... great names? get real.

If developed, slam.tv could be a perfect basketball website. Afterall, there is a basketball magazine called SLAM! :)

And RealLife.tv is a much better fit for .tv than real.tv imho. Real.tv also has TM issues flying all over the place.
