Sedo traffic numbers question.

NameSilo
Watch
I am trying to figure out what the sedo (domain maintenance view) numbers mean. Right now just one example shous 14 views and no clicks this month. If I go to the 'more info' screen it shows 43 uniques/month (that must be last 30 days).

What is a unique view? Is it where the name is found on Sedo via search or whatever and the 'more info' is viewed or when the parking page is visited?

I am puzzled by the traffic for some names and the absolute lack of clicks. I know this won't happen but if I could figure out where the traffic is coming from (referer would help) I could better determine best keywords to maybe get some clicks.

That is another reason to adding some content and linking to Sedo. Often when I do this I get Google clicks + Sedo clicks and can track exactly where the traffic comes from. But this is only good for topics I specialize in.

P.S. <rant>Frustration -- Fabulous told me basically 'go away kid & you bother me' and I have submitted lists of names to Domain Sponser twice and never received a reply. At least FAB was honest when they told me to get lost. I know many of my names aren't that great but I also have some that get 50% or more click thru.</rant>

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
i may have misunderstood you but a unique is a uinique IP address that looks at your site. That resets daily so if youre looking at your site once a day for a month it will register 30 uniques, even if its just you.

Yes, I understand what a unique is. Typically a visit from a browser/ip which has not been there in 24 hours as determined by a cookie.

I am trying to figure out if a visit is counted only when the Sedo parking page is accessed or when the 'more info' page is accessed. Or is the counted views coming from the Sedo site or from a SE or type in etc.

hark at domainsponsor i think its 1000 names you need to submit, if you have that many they should get back to you, domainsponsor have recently had problems with their server. I am a member there, normally they email back within 2-3 days i havnt heard from them in weeks.. i dont know whats up there.

I've also wanted to ask this question. You beat me to it. I don't understand where unique views come from. For example I have a domain that has 28 views of offer, zero uniques and zero clicks. As a matter of fact it doesn't even register as being parked yet (because it has no clicks). I listed this domain on the 28th of June. I have several others with uniques and clicks and no offer views. I would think a view of offer means someone clicked on my domain name on sedo. Since it has no unique views, I'd like to know where unique views come from. Thanks in advance.

I had thought there was some kind of requirement but they sure don't say it anywhere I can find. --life in the slow lane--

btw www.50cent.cc, how does a man like yourself reg that :)
If you are refering to the fact that my avitar does not scream 50cent -- could be hoping to make a buck or so.

If just about reg'ing -- GD was quite happy to take my $$$.

lol...exactly I see your avatar and think distinguished man, the 50cent through me...lol

btw have you had any action on it? Any numbers?
Gets a small bit of traffic (around 10 uniques/day). A few Google clicks but no posters/music. I want to try this without doing the AdWords thing. Mostly an experiment to see what happens. Usually MSN picks up this kind of thing quickly but not this. There is lots of competition on this one

Sorry about that hark. i figured I misunderstood you. I too have had trouble figuring out Sedo numbers. They dont make a lot of sense at all. I have also been asking for more detailed stats when purchasing from someone. I recently got burned on a Sedo stat sheet that apparently was bringing in porn hits on a non porn site. When I monetized it a bit, traffic dwindled and I am really starting all over with it. And since I am so numbers based in how I run my business, I dont use Sedo anymore. Hope all is well, take care.

Here's a Sedo statistics guide-

On a Domain Offer page one sees:

Visitors to this Sedo Listing: X
Unique Visitors per month: Y

X= The first set of stats refer to the number of views to the offer page itself
Y = The later stats refer to the number of unique visitors to the parking page in the last 32 days.

*The offer page is the page where prospective buyers can see the details about the domain and submit an offer.

*A unique view (y) only includes natural traffic (SE and type-in generated) to the Parking Page. On the parking page once the visitor clicks on the 'this domain is for sale more info' link they are forwarded to the Domain's Offer Page. The visit to the offer page is then included in X, visitors to the Sedo Listing.

In the Domain Management Tool it is possible to set the time frame to view monthly parking statistics or also stats for the last 32 days by individual domain (y).

Does this clear up the confusion, let me know if there are further questions.

Best,
Mara

Thanks SEDO. If a visitor reaches my parking page via type-in they are counted as a unique view. (y) If they however click the more info link, they are only counted as a view of offer. (X). Is it correct that they are not counted as both (y) & (X)?

Thanks. That makes sense but I could not seem to nail it down. Now if there was a (hint, hint) way to see some kind of stats regarding origins of the traffic such as SE and NON-SE. While a list of referers would be nice I can see why Sedo would not want to make that public.

The visitor will be counted once for a visit to the parking page (y) and then when they visit the offer page they will be included with (X) as well. These are two separate sets of statistics.

SEDO

The reason I asked if they were only counted as Y or X is that I have a domain parked since 6/28 and it has 31 views of offer and only 1 unique view. Yesterday it had 28 views of offer and no unique views. Im a little confused as to what this means. Thanks for your help!!
