Sedo Price Suggestions

Just a few moments ago I noticed a link at the top of my Sedo management page saying "NEW: Get free price suggestions and sell your domains faster!". I have a wary feeling that this will be similar to the values that GoDaddy presents when listing a domain. I have submitted a few names to the queue for the auto-appraisal service at Sedo.

Anyone else try this service?

Hi Cmason,

Traffic jam on that service for now.
It gives you advice/appraisal on minimum price you could ask for your own domains.
So sad you can not get appraisal on domain you do not own.
Making this tool more difficul to benchmark regarding domain sell history.

:$: I keep on using DomainAppraisal.net to get domain appraisal on domain I do not own

Regards

Quite similar to mine. One, Consulting/Employment/com they had as $1000-$1999 USD where as I had it listed at $795. <$500 USD or GBP is a pretty broad range. I guess that the biggest take-away from a tool like this is that it is only a SINGLE resource.

EDIT: If you hover over the arrow it gives the specific evaluation. One mine was $320 another $180 and similar all the way though.

Any reason these "price structures" dont show up doing a search for a name. i have one with a $60 start auction price in the description but their price came back for $500....maybe if their value was listed alongside the name in a search more people would trus sedos point of view and bid or buy at the suggested price from sedo

My guess is the minimum will be ยฃ500 regardless of wether it is a ยฃ1 domain. Not really an appraisal as such.

I found the minimum to be $100USD for me. It would be in the "<$500USD" bucket, but then a hover over the arrow would say $100.

Interesting - thanks for breaking this news, off to check the SEDO interface now.

Kind of ironic, we renewed our Afternic / DLS membership after a 3 year hiatus, and are already having troubles simply listing domains for sale.. .circular reference errors in Firefox etc. Anyhow, that's for another thread.

Off to try this new SEDO suggestion service and will report back.

I just got an email from sedo where they advertised their service. Wasn't sure what to think about the apraisels. Are they close to the real worth of a domain?

The 50 appraisals limit per day make it difficult to benchmark it...

Interesting - or not. Another automated domain appraisal service.

I'm running a few of mine through it to get a feel for what kind of metrics they're using - been waiting forever, there must be quite a large queue!*

It's in Sedo's best interests to estimate high. Side efffect: A bunch of noobs with big portfolios of reg fee names will now be convinced they're all worth at least $100 ?

* (Now it's predicting a 76 minute wait .... oops they just revised that to 124 minutesD-:! ETA till their servers crash = ??? Predictions, anyone?)

I'm guinea pigging this one too. Will let you know how mine comes out too - but serious log jam (what did they expect emailing all their members?)

Great topic and screen shots guys!

It would be great to hear hard sales vs "free price suggestions"

My list was showing a 115 minute wait for a while, then a 26 minute wait ... now it's up to 178 minutes! Well, maybe I'll check it when I get up tomorrow morning. :)

Most of mine went from 70 minute wait all the way to 300+ minutes. Just let it go over night.

I agree that the $100 minimum will make it difficult for newbie/crappy names, but overall I am impressed with the valuations. Of course, I would love to see them put the estimate in a column instead of just a "hover tool-tip", but I am sure they will do that soon enough.

It is still taking long.
I got a few appraisal today, and , in my case, it seems like hyphen domains are better evaluated the same domain wihtout hyphen.

Did yoy noticed interesting thing so far ?

I just looked at the group I ran yesterday and I'm baffled - prices are all over the map and I'm still trying to figure out a logical pattern to it. Weak, 1 word .us and a decent but not spectacular 2 word .com got priced low-mid xxxx, a couple of 2 word .biz names (good keywords, bad extension) and a 2 word .mobi priced much higher than stronger .com/.net names.

:-/

Anyone else?
