Sedo has a new policy regarding fees - $50 minumum fee for ANY domain sold thru negotiation or auction.

I feel the auctions will lose a lot of popularity by this, resulting in making less people view them and lower sales + high fees.
Also the page system for the auction list is horrible, I loved to view all the names on auction in one large list, now it comes in pages of 25

Sign this thread if you're with me on this. Sedo, change stuff back to the way it was!

update:
Sedo has just reintroduced that ugly paging system, along with the horrible new site

boo you sedo.. you have just lost one customer, I'm done with it..

It looks like sedo is now trying to avoid the auctions and focus on high end brokering, parking and direct 'buy-now' sales.

The auctions are hard to find on the new site,
The new $50 commissions screws all sales below $500
The paging will discourage us more to NOT auction names with them.

Well, have fun sedo, you won't see me around anymore!!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Yes, the new policy is illogical. For a 60Euro offer, Sedo demands 50Euro commission, which means do not sell it and this logic will kill the small segments of the market.

And I can't understand the strategy behind forcing for fixing price for a still not established market.

probably sedo will change this policy after seeing difference in sales volume.

In my personal experience, i have redirected more than 20 buyers to sedo page to make offer and conducted auction. but all occasions i haven't got any counter offer. Next time onwards i will conduct transaction directly through paypal (minimum for those transaction under $500).

ok guys please note that this is a petition and I'd like people to sign it instead of just discussing.
The point is to get a lot of signers so sedo will know people don't like their new policy.

If I can add something, there is also one new feature that seems illogical for me.

When we are clicking at the featured auctions on the main page we can see all running auctions. Previously all auctions were on one page, and it was very useful. Now there are 10 pages (25 domains on each page), and auctions that are not on the first page (closing soon) got very!! low views. Just check the last pages of running auctions and you will see.

Itโ€™s not good for sellers and for Sedo IMO

Signed up.

One more thing - there is something totally wrong!!!!
Look, on the first page we can see domain name morepics.com (itโ€™s bold โ€“ itโ€™s not mine) is has 24 bids and 293 views! Itโ€™s not normal and it canโ€™t be.
Before this new changes on some of my not very good domains (not .com) I had 70-100 views daily.
Almost all auctions had 700 + views before the end.

This new implemented "multipage auction list" means only one:
auctioned domains will miss a lot of potential buyers, final sales will be smaller,
domain seller and Sedo itself loose a potential money.

How exactly do i sign this thread? Just by commenting?

Anyway, i never like Sedo in the first place with it's slow service response times, but now $50 minimum on a $60 domain??? Just plain GREED. I mean who is going to reg domains at $10 and then sell them at $60 on Sedo for them to take $50?

Honestly, this is why i don't even bother promoting my domains for sale, I'm embarrassed by the constant greed of registrars and auction/sales sites (NP'S excluded), just sad IMO.

Author needs to put up a poll. That way we may sign. Just don't expect it to have an effect.

And to think I was just preparing to advertise/promote a bunch of domains listed at sedo...

I guess this means there's no point in setting the minimum at any less than $500 --- or in trying to sell lower value names through their platform. Too bad for us, and too bad for them.

If I was in their position, and trying to limit my exposure to high cost / low profit margin transactions, but trying to stay on the good side of the supply market, I would instate some kind of monthly maximum for transactions <500 with the 10% fee, and tie the maximum number to the seller's avg. transaction total so that power sellers have a bit more flexibility...

Regarding the new "Auction View" w/ only 25 domains per page. WTF were you people thinking? I have an auction that has been running for 4 days, and I have less than 20 views. This is a good domain, related to the solar power industry. If I don't the eyeballs, how the f$#k am I supposed to bring in the big $$$? If I can't bring in the big $$$, then how is Sedo supposed to make a BIGGER commission?

It makes no sense. What kind of review process do you think they use for making decisions? Not a very good one, IMO.

Sedo just lost some more business.

My vote is in..The new fees and rules suck! So I guess the minimum bid must be above $60 now if they are planning on taking $50 in commission..Hopefully their sales and auctions drop dramatically now..
