.au policy change?

Just saw this on Sedo:

Article talking about potential policy changes on the .au extension.

If there is any significant changes to the .au extension, what would be the most efficient way to get alerted as soon as it happens. Being Australian, I am very interested in this.

There are some posts about this - check those out for what some ppl have to say about it.

From what I can gather - public comment has been sought (albeit not that widely) for 24 months or so already.

Not sure if this will happen - it makes sense to standardise and put Australia on the same level as other countries.

B/c .com.au is quite tightly regulated and more expensive and tied up in so many Australian businesses I'm not sure how this can be 'deregulated' - I mean there are many many issues here - all costly to ppl who already have invested in .com.au - and (Australian) trademarks etc

I'm sensing there will be plenty of warning when this extension is released - you will hear about it
