My advice is never pay for a domain at Sedo until they have confirmed that they really can transfer that domain.

Why? Because if you buy a domain and pay immediately and then it is not available or the seller doesn't want to complete, you have to wait to get your money back and you may incur transaction costs. It happens.

Sedo don't work weekends and probably not holidays. Yet they have something like 200 staff.

But I have found they pay you for a sale fairly quickly if the amount is not large.

"Like 200 staff" has nothing to do with domain transfers...
Just few transfer specialists there... and they really don't work on weekends and holidays according to German calendar.

They pay out next business day after transaction was finished (or domain was pushed into their escrow account).
Amount doesn't matter.

I think you are unreasonable customer to be honest.

I mean, 3 days is nothing.

Also it's Christmas?

Yes, nobody works in Germany these days...

Domain name purchases can take time.

Par for the course, as it were.

An expected variation in time for such matters, with failures along the way due to other party negligence.

It is what it is.

Sorry, don't agree with you. They can be 2nd but Namejet has taken the first spot in the list of worst domain markets.

It has been 3 months, I bought a domain, paid for the same day and still waiting to get the domain.

There is also up to 24h timeframe for antifraud checks of payments...

Look at 8866.cn, which is the marketplace for pro domainers only. When you buy a domain, you must pay in 8 hours, and seller must push or provide auth code in 8 hours in the daytime.

Time is money, marketvalue of domains change everyday.

You may not agree since you do not buy and sell domains everyday, but we sell hundreds of domain every month and our profit is less than 10%. LLLL.com = $100 six months ago but now is $80.

Also domainers do not have holidays.

You may think what you want...
But Sedo has its own Terms and policies, including antifraud practice.
They never worked on holidays. And all payments must be verified there prior the transfer.

Especially if it is the 1st time...
So your account/reputation is not even marked as reliable to skip the additional antifraud procedure...

But I have sell domains on sedo for two years and sold many domains on sedo.

This doesn't matter...
If your card is detected by Sedo for the 1st time - it must be verified...
So seller also waits... not only you...

Maybe that is why people need Crypto currency.

From my long negotiation experience - I still didn't meet the buyer who was ready to pay in crypto...
Even when they have it - they don't want to spend it.

Hi 70ym,

Sorry we somehow missed this post only now I have seen it, I was intrigued by the subject of your post and was surprised when looking at your account and the transfer in greater detail why you wrote it in the first place.

So firstly just to clear up the facts with your transfer:

· You ordered and paid for the domain on the 23rd December at 2pm GMT+1. Which was a non working day for Sedo due to the holiday period.

· You first emailed us on the 24th December at 22:54pm.

· You emailed again on the 25th December at 23:48pm

· You emailed again on the 26th of December.

· Our transfer agent pushed the domain to your account and credited you the payment for the sale on the 30th December.

So essentially, in total your transfer took just 2 working days to complete as the 28th and 29th of December fall on a Saturday and Sunday and are also non working days. You bought the domain and emailed us during the national holiday period. There has to be an assumption that you know Sedo operates from Germany and the US and we like most other companies close our offices for the holiday period to allow our staff members to enjoy their well-deserved holidays with their friends and families.

I have checked your account and 99% of the responses we have sent to you since you have been a customer of ours have been sent within 1 working day of your original contact. NOT only has Sedo provided you with timely responses but we have also provided you with an agent who speaks Chinese to make contacting us easier, we have also assisted you selling many domains on our platform and I have also personally assisted you. Despite this you write such a negative review of Sedo.

I must say I am somewhat confused!

All the best Chris

Hi 70ym,

With the greatest of respect, 4 days holiday over the holiday period once a year is not excessive. Sedo strives to deliver the best service and opening times that we can but we have to be realistic and we also try to offer the best work / life balance to our employees. After all happy workers are better workers, providing a better service to you. This is not unreasonable.

Your post is not justified and I am really surprised that you wrote it considering the business relationship we have had so far and looking at your account in more detail.

All the best

Chris

As one of the biggest international domain market, you should able to provide service everyday.
I think it is not difficult. Many people are willing to work on holiday.
Or just make transfer procedure automatically.

And you should waive the 3% payment fee for domains that above $500.
I think 15% transauction fee is high enough to cover payment fee.

Hi 70ym,

No we dont do that for the reasons I have already given you. I understand that you are unhappy that you could not reach someone between the 24th and 26th of December as our offices were closed for Christmas. But do you really think that justifies writing a post 'Sedo is really one of the worst marketplace to buy domain' when most businesses in Germany and the US also close over these days? Also considering the 1 day response time we normally have dealing with your questions, providing you personal support in your native tongue Chinese and helping you close more that 20 successful transactions?

All the best
Chris
