I did bid the last 2 weeks on several domains (14 to be exactly) offered at Sedo. In all cases I offered the price that was asked. But nobody responded to my offers, so none of the domains could actually bought be me.
This Sedo system seems to have no obligations at all, and I think this is not good, it seems a sort of market where you just can offer domains for a certain price and than don't sell them. This is annoying.

I got the feeling certain persons just use low prices on their domains to get Sedo hits.

Were they low bids, like $50 and under?? I have a domain on there, someone called me, and said they made a $50 offer. I told them I never was notifiied, or knew of it.

I didn't think their system accepted bids under $60.

The seller woudn't make even a small profit at $50 because of Sedo's minimum commission.

I belive that if you park the domain there you pay only a flat fee of 10% of the price, with no minimum fees....

You may be right. Maybe it doesn't.

Nope, $50

Listing a domain for sale on Sedo is absolutely FREE. We operate on a commission basis, so you are only charged if we successfully find a buyer for your domain. Then, Sedo’s commission fee is 10% (min. $50/€50/£50 for .com/.net/.org, for other minimums please see price list), and this fee includes Sedo’s secure escrow service (including sending the payment to you via Paypal or Wire Transfer).

Are the fixed prices binding? ie When an offer is made at the fixed price, is the seller contractually obligated to sell at that price?

Somebody offered me $60 for a name. I accepted but have yet to hear back. It's been 2 weeks+ now.

Found a link here:

Park the domain with Sedo! Effective immediately, there is no minimum commission fee for domains parked with Sedo* (*offer only valid for US / Canadian residents) That means you pay just a flat 10% commission fee regardless of the value of the domain name. So, if that $100 domain name is parked with Sedo, you'll pay a measly $10 commission!

I think Groog is saying he actually bid the price asked by the seller which I have done in the past on Sedo, it would appear that there is no obligation on the seller to sell at the asking price which makes little sense to have an asking price!

Grilla No they are not ibligated I bid on brb.info $100 No reply SEDO tried to upsell me on their broker service I was like what the heck. They said seller not obligated only buyers.

no obligation on the seller to sell

That’s disturbing in that I conclude that domain is NOT for sale. It seems closer to o “Make me an offer to consider” rather than “for sale at”.

Found it

Again an email from SEDO so far off topic its not funny. Stop trying to upsell and address issues. First off your Domain brokers do not know more about the domain business than me. So now that that that's out of the way, why would I need a broker to negotiate a price when the person on your site said he was looking for $100 and that's what I offered. So no need for an appraisal which are WORTHLESS unless you are getting paid for giving the worthless opinion.

Hello and thank you for contacting me.

I understand you concerns here and the seller should have responded to your offer. However we cannot force our users hands. Its up to them to manage their own accounts. Although I can't be sure why the seller chose not to respond to your offer I can suggest using our domain acquisition service to help you acquire this domain. Our brokers know the domain industry better than anyone and can help you acquire the domain you want at a fair price. Included in the service is a detailed appraisal before you begin negotiations with the seller. Then your broker will work out a strategy with you based on your budget and time line for acquiring the domain. For more details please follow the link below:

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'll be happy to help.

Best regards,

I was under the impression that you could not list a domain with a buy it now price of less than $199,at least that's the message I got when I tried to list a few.
The make offer is just that....make an offer and negotiate.

I've had same experience. I found a domain listed in the "featured domains" section selling for $400 and offered full price. The seller did not even reply to the offer.

While its true that Sedo can't force a seller to sell at his asking price, they are in a position to penalize such sellers. That they don't seem to hold them accountable in any way is not a good sign.
