Would you say the service is worth it and do they have anymore resources to contact domain owners than anyone else does??

Just trying to find out the pros and cons from anyone who has used this service before.

Thanks

Easy answer, use Moniker.com and yes it is worth it. I have clients every day tell me they are unable to reach the domain owner direct, in most cases I have been able to get a response. Domain owners like to see emails from trusted sources, Moniker is a top 10 registrar with lots of press around our high end sales.

*Disclaimer - I work for the company :)

If you guys need help buying or selling domain names or have more questions, email me at patrickr at moniker.com.

Alex,

First, I've never used a domain acquisition service. What's in it for them? If they obtain the domain, do you pay them a flat fee or is the fee based off the price they obtain it for? Maybe they take a percentage from the seller's proceeds.

Either way, it doesn't seem like getting the domain for the lowest price possible is in their best interests. That's how I've always looked at it.

$69 fee for there efforts of contacting the owner, assuming I buy it though them its a 10% fee minimum of $50 if I remember correctly.

Interesting way of looking at it, they would want the highest price possible for the commission I guess.

But at the same time, if they had other resources of contacting domain owners than the average person does then i guess the fee could be worth it.

Neither have i but i remember reading that you give them your max price you would pay and if they get it at 'whatever' price you still pay the quoted amount... That is why they would want to acquire it at the least price...

A while back I got an offer from GoDaddy broker, they offered me $69 so I just ignored it :guilty:, if you going to pay them $69 to make an offer then I would suggest starting off with something that will at least get the sellers interest.

Also had a broker offer (i think it was from either buydomains or moniker) where they said I would have to pay them 10% commission aswell if I sold them the name ?? (I did'nt have the name listed with them)

I always thought that the person who paid for the broker would be the only one who got charged 10% ...weired :alien:

Is that normal ?

Moniker does not charge a fee to initiate negotiations. We only charge a fee if we are successful in acquiring the name for the customer.

Now that sounds much more logical than godaddy or sedo, that's incited me :lala:
