Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

@Sedo

First, I'm sorry to hear you're no longer participating here.

Some of the menu tabs in the My Domains section are no longer visible (white on white).

Only the active tab is shown.

I can search for (and find) Sedoโ€™s posts, but their name vanished from that forumโ€™s list.

A bargain, isnยดt it?

100 Million German native speakers who stopped walking barefoot since they defeated the Romans 2,000 years ago.

I bet that shoes dot com would change hands for at least mid six numbers USD.

I own Schuhe .co and it seems that Iยดd be happy to sell it for reg fee.

I decided to pull all my domains from Sedo, and hereโ€™s why.

The sales process on Sedo has become painfully slow compared to literally every other marketplace I use.
Other platforms verify payments almost instantly, they process external transfers within hours, and they donโ€™t require the buyer to constantly reconfirm things that other marketplaces handle automatically.

With Sedo, even a simple credit card payment can take days to โ€œverify,โ€ and external transfers get stuck in back-and-forth approval steps that shouldnโ€™t exist in 2025. Meanwhile, Iโ€™ve had Afternic and Porkbun marketplace sales complete and pay out within hours.

The long delays, extra verification steps, and outdated procedures make the whole experience feel years behind the rest of the industry. I donโ€™t want my buyers waiting or deals dragging out for no reason, so I removed everything. Iโ€™m keeping my domains only on the marketplaces that move fast and donโ€™t get in the way of a sale.

I bet that you are from US. For me it's exactly the other way. Compared to dan, sedo it's slow, that"s right. But compared to afternic, at least when the seller or buyer is from Europe, afternic is ten times slower. 11 days average payout times, at sedo around 4, replying to an email , afternic 3 days, sedo 1 day. A sale from afternic a few days ago, after two days of quiet, I've asked them if they don't need the auth code. Again, I'm talking about customers from Europe.

Request sent to buyer to confirm if transfer is complete
We have sent a request to the buyer to confirm within the next 5 days if the transfer as well as the owner change have been completed correctly, and if they have full control of the domain.
********************************
If we don't receive a reply from the buyer within 5 days, we will be able to close the transaction and release your payment.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
********************************

The reply I got 10 days later:

Hello ,

The ownership details have not yet been updated successfully on the buyer's end and is still pending. We asked the buyer again to urgently contact their registrar to check if anything is needed to complete.

We will release the funds as soon as the buyer has full control of the domain name.

Kind regards,
Your Sedo Team

They first took a week to verify the buyer's CC payment and now this...

I'm also abandoning ship. Previously, I felt like I was working with a transfer specialist, response time was reasonably quick during their hours of operation, but now I'm just talking with myself in the Transfer Center (and yes, I'm ruling out weekends and holidays). Their "communication" is just automated messages. Unbearable if there are any hiccups such as a new auth code required after an unsuccessful transfer attempt. Thankfully my latest sale (the last on Sedo I hope) was agreed via email so I could send a fresh code directly to the buyer. That transfer is now completed despite Sedo, it would have taken days through them.

Seems to me like an End-of-Life platform, sorry. Or at least seriously understaffed before the sale of the business.

I had 2 with issues at sedo in the last 3 months or so, but in the same time I had around 15 with no issues, with payouts in 2-3 days ( bad, compared to dan 17 hiurs average). Also, I have now a sale with afternic after 6 months, 2 days after payment, nobody asked for auth or anything. I ask them if they don't need the auth code and they replied half a day later to send it over ( something like 'whatever'). After 5 days I sent a new message, why they didn't started the transfer. The 6 day they replied they will start it. Nobody know when. So probably around 2 weeks to payout. So, if you leave sedo to go to afternic, you didn't resolved anything. We need a reset or a new marketplace, but for now we are dealing with who works better for eaxh of us out of the existing one's.

I've used Sedo and their landers mainly for my European ccTLD listings, so Afternic is not a fully functional option. Kind of unfortunate, because I've had zero problems with AN after their congrats emails (lots of complaints before the sales). Fruits.co is still too unripe (sic), DaaZ is also far from perfect but I'll probably give them a go. For these ccTLDs I prefer a European business (and EUR pricing) over, let's say, Spaceship. I need to find a place that I can/would recommend to my buyer, Sedo used to be it but not anymore. My buyer today: "they are really slow with communication".

Yes, EU cctlds are natural for sedo. If the transfer is done to their registrar or the buyer is very responsive, usually it goes decent well. If there is an issue, than everything is taking ages. I can understand how a company like dan, with a fraction of resources compared to sedo and godaddy could do things 10 times faster. If it's was done, for sure there should be at least a few guys who could do the same setup like dan had.
