Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Sure, but if you have hundreds of domains it is quite a hassle... I would prefer something similar to Undeveloped's landing pages.

Look into efty.com as another option, "for sale" landing page. Not a hassle to redirect the 100's or 1000's of names and also be 100% in control of your names.

yes of course
I didn't mean one by one url forward

you can use something like bodis to do mass url forward with domain as parameter

it looks like so on bodis:

https://sedo.com/search/details/?domain={DOMAIN_NAME}&tracked=&partnerid=&language=us

if you ever need to redirect elsewhere than sedo, it only takes 1 minuet to change to new url for all domains.. on bodis.

hope to help
ciao

Does this still work for you? I tried this last year and it stopped working one day.

Would love to see Sedo implement the new page because there are some names that I like selling there because it's mostly hassle free.

Oh, that's cool. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks.

Yes, I also use Efty, but not for my landing pages. But they are definitely a good alternative.

this still works. honestly, I've never seen it stop working

what I Did see stop workign was url redirect at above.com
they got greedy few motnhs back and no longer allow it for domains which are not regged at above.com

here is my setup and control method for all my domains and registrars:

I set all domains dns to: above.com

from there, if I want to park I Easily switch park companies. and if I want to do url redirect, since above.com no longer allows it, I simply pick bodis for parking on above.com then at bodis, I do url redirect to sedo link above.. and make sure to chck the auto url box.. so it skips parked page and goes direct to sedo

if u wanna skip above.com that's fine. you just set dns to bodis..

I use above.com only casue sometimes I switch between prking companioes.. so they are the easiest way to do it.

but if all u wanna do is different url redirects here and there.. just set dns direct to bodis.. cheers

Ad Blockers and Sedo parking pages

If I type in the url of a parked domain listed on sedo, with 'AdBlock' enabled the "Buy this domain" link from the parking page to the sale page is missing. However with the similarly named 'AdBlock Plus', the link shows.

It seems some ad blockers might see the "Buy this domain" widget as an ad and block it.
So no link to the sale page.

Personally, I find it very frustrating and ridiculous that you charge such a huge fee to auction off a domain name. In order to make the fee worth paying, you need to start your auction price at 500. or more, and no one is going to bid on a domain with that high a starting price unless it is a 3 letter name or something obviously very valuable. And since there are no guarantees that your name will sell for more than the minimum asking price, Sedo ends up being the ONLY beneficiary of domain auction sales. Also, I recently asked Sedo about whether they had any auctions without a minimum $69. fee, and a week later there is still no reply from them.

Previously, I have used the auction option for several names that I received very low offers on. I hoped/expected that the names would sell for much more at auction, but was badly disappointed every time I tried it when the original offer was exceeded by only a couple bucks and 1 bidder, and so it only ended up making me wait a lot longer to get paid, and I would have been a lot better off either accepting the original offer or countering in the hope of a higher price. Better yet, I would have been better off simply not selling the names at all until a more reasonable price was offered.

careful... now with new gdrp in place, sedo has to confirm completed sale with buyer.. via email.. phone or what not.. this trnaslates into further delays before you get paid out.

they said they are working on another solution.. I hope so.. cause this is a really bad one.. if a solution at all.

I had a sale recently.. domain transfered to buyer.. new registrar showed in whois... but they wouldn't pay cause they said buyer didn't confirm he has domain.

I said its not my fault. so do not penalize sellers with payout delays... so they paid after 3 days.. if I didn't insist.. maybe it'd take god knows how long.. some buyers do not care about confirming.. some are mean and rude.. and some just well.. go on vacation or something..

I hope things don't get suckier with payouts on sedo. it used to be real good before gdrp.

Needed something real quick from Live Chat but:

Monday - Wednesday: 09.00 AM - 11.00 AM CET
Thursday - Sunday: Closed

What is that? Closed 4 days and the 3 days you have it, just 2 hours per day, 6 hours a week? I'm not even up yet those hours :) Why even have it.

Looks like that got even worse:

Weโ€™re sorry, our Live Chat is currently not available. We are happy to take your request via email. Please use the โ€œAsk a questionโ€ tab to send us your request.

Chat hours are listed below.
Monday - Friday: Closed
Saturday: 09:00 PM - 10:00 PM EDT
Sunday: Closed
It is currently Monday, Jul 02, 2018 06:20 AM EDT

Live chat is only available 1 hour a week? At 9 pm at night? Why even have it.

---------------------------
They had maintenance the other night, not sure if that has anything to do with this but pages aren't loading for me.

I have it set at Voodoo to:

https://www.sedo.co.uk/search/details.php4?domain=[DOMAIN]

Going direct:
https://www.sedo.co.uk/search/details.php4?domain=bamboomassage.com

I get this:
http://sedo.com:8180/search/details/?domain=bamboomassage.com

Which gives me:
This site canโ€™t be reached
sedo.com took too long to respond.
Search Google for sedo 8180 search details
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Anybody else seeing the same?

Have not been able to log in since Saturday AM my time (Eastern USA). I DM'd them on twitter and no response.

Any domains that I had parked there were not resolving either so I removed them.

Pretty ridiculous if you ask me - domains are not a M-F 9-5 business in one timezone only.

Sent them an email, will call later. Maybe others can as well.

Right after you login under Important Updates:

Data Center Move
On Saturday, June 30 we move our servers to a new data center.

There will be a system-wide down time on Sedo's website. The scheduled down time of our website will approximately last for three hours and weโ€™ll be back online around 6 AM EST.

So looks like that went screwy.

They need to have it fixed today or at minimum notify all their customers that things are currently broken.

Tel. (617) 499-7200
Email: [email protected]

Customer Support Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm EST/EDT
Transfer Support Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm EST/EDT

@Sedo - hasn't been here in awhile.

Ok, called them. They have 2 options, 2 and 3. 2 is for recently bought domains, transfers etc, 3 is for other stuff like parking. First 2 times I picked option 3, it rang for a few times, then got a message they were busy, then the call was disconnected by them. 3rd time I picked option 2, got somebody, asked them when the site will be fixed, hasn't been working for 2 days. They mentioned the data center move, that they were aware of the problems and have tech working on them.

What they should do is put up a message so people can see when they login, or send an email to let people know they are working on the problem.

Tel. (617) 499-7200

Looks like they just added:
"Parking Statistics Delay
We are having a maintenance issue that causes our Parking Statistics not to have been updated since Saturday, 30 June 2018.

This is a simple delay in the statistics. We are working on fixing the issue as soon as possible. We will inform you once the issue has been solved. Thanks for your patience."

So looks like they're aware of the many problems and working on them.

I did. My traffic was going nowhere. Not sure I will return to @Sedo after this.

Still broken. Just did Voodoo Mass Modify, so now offers come directly to me. Probably better off that way anyway. Lost business for Sedo.
