Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

About new domain management - Domain search button would be nice. Or at least I cant find it?

I saw this somewhere but now I can't find it.

I tried to update prices today and nothing is updated. Only thing I got that some domains got error during price update and some are still "in progress" - since more then half hour.
In old domain management tool changes were instant...

There is no longer a text box allowing me to quick-search for a domain in my list. Instead, I have to navigate through page after page of domains...yeah, I see that there is a filter drop-down menu, but it's pretty hidden and involves more clicks.

Any update about this? Example - gfx dot tv

Do you have ad blocker? Switch it off and see if it works :)

---------- Post added at 10:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:55 PM ----------

They should fix this though - else every single person with Ad Blocker gets sent to an google Adsense page.... does that revenue get tracked the same way?

There's definitely no "Owner might be selling....." link which is what I would EXPECT to see.

Sorting your domains, for instance according number of views of offer is now more difficult as it requires more clicks.

Sedo always gets it wrong. When they do something to improve the site it ends up being worse then it was.

This is what Sedo say on their site
Monetisation of Non-JavaScript Traffic - December 10, 2010

Sedoโ€™s technology now relies on a JavaScript feed for its one click landing pages which allows for an improved targeting of advertisements. A small portion of the traffic cannot be monetised with JavaScript and for this portion we were using a XML feed. Since our primary ad provider will stop offering this service, we have implemented a solution which will at least continue the deliverance of ads directly from them. Although it is not possible to include the โ€œfor saleโ€ link at this time, please rest assured that we are treating this matter with the utmost importance and we are working on improving this solution as per our duty of being the best overall monetisation solution in the market.

So if you disable Javascript you end up on another page with no for sale link. So mobile devices, blind people and so on do not get to know the domain is for sale. Big accessibility problem, let's hope they try and fix this in a professional way.

And why when a domain is on auction does the parking page not say that? You can go look at a domain and have no idea it is currently on auction. Easy and very important to fix imo.

Thanks... I had to turn off half of firefox plugins to avoid redirection. Great :(

@cmason

You can search for a certain domain name by clicking on the edit button next to the "Domain name" header. Here you will see the option to "Filter". If you click this box, the search bar will appear.

In this same drop down search bar, you can "Filter by group", which allows you to type in several names and view them together; separate from your portfolio.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Sedo

I'd like to know when you are going to start indicating on the parking page that a domain is currently on auction?

I wouldn't want someone to miss a live auction over a simple thing like that.

You can forward domain to auction page when auction starts (instead of parking it with sedo).

@dnb8- If you are still experiencing issues with the bulk price update, please PM me with your account so that I can have someone look into it. You can also contact the support center through the Sedo site.

Now when I check, update has finished, but I think somebody should do something to speed this up.
Updating something that was immediate in previous version now takes more then 24h!

The biggest problems I have at sedo:

1. Let users decide what currency they want to get paid in instead dictating the currency. Paypal accepts any currency. You don't need to change the currency.

2. On my domains page, the table headers used to be clickable and sortable. Now they are not. You need ot click a small icon and then select how to sort. This is two steps. In the past it was one step. You were able to click on the column name. Change this back.

3. On my domains page number of domains per page is too low and the setting is not saved anywhere. Every time I visit this page I need to reset it to 100 domains per page.
Firstly make it so that somewhere inside account settings, items per page is saved for my domains page. Secondly change 100 to 500 items.

4. I don't want to park domains. When I open the domain I want to see the page that you normally see after you click the "this domain might be for sale" link.
This is the page I'm talking about: (change example.com to actual domain)
http://www.sedo.com/search/details.php4?domain=example.com

Create an option for the landing page so that I can select between the park page and the for sale page.

5. Display a phone number on the for sale page.
This is the page I'm talking about: (change example.com to actual domain)
http://www.sedo.com/search/details.php4?domain=example.com

6. On the my domains page there is a column called "Offer Views", formerly known as "views of offer". That number should be reset monthly. Reason:
I forwarded example.com to http://www.sedo.com/search/details.php4?domain=example.com a few months ago and all visitors who open the domain have landed on the for sale page. Naturally the views of offer is very high. Now I changed my mind and I started parking example.com. I want to see how many people are actually clicking the "this domain might be for sale" link but I can't do this because the views of offer shows the whole visits from beginning on. You need to reset views of offer every month.

7. I don't want to sell to buyers who don't accept a domain push. Sedo is driving me crazy by forcing a transfer. Those transfers are insecure because you directly transfer to the buyer. Add a setting to let me decide how I want to sell my domain.

8. On my domains page create a page where I can enter the current registrar. See reason on next item:

9. When somebody buys a domain, show the them where the domain is registered and let them select one of these two options:

How do you want to receive this domain name:
(0) Domain Push (Account change within the same registrar) Open an account at the current registrar and get the domain faster without any transfer fees.
(0) Domain Transfer (Transfer the domain to your own registrar) This will take a few days more then the first option and you are responsible to pay any transfer fees.

10. On my domains page you were able to go from page one to page two with one click. There was a next button. Now you can't. You need to select a drop list and then select the page number. This is two steps. Change pagination. Put back the next button.

Custom Overview > Offer Views > Sort Descending =
53kzv.jpg

Nice, now I can't sort by Offer views, guess I'll have to go page by page to see offer views.

Custom Overview page 1 > Custom Overview page 2 = Parking Statistics Page 1

WTF?

Custom Overview > Uniques > Sort Descending = Parking Statistics

Great, so the custom overview is limited to one page of unsortable fail.

Yeah...Recently one buyer placed a bid on my domain and I accepted it so sale agreement has been created. However, since that domain wasn't available for transfer during next 60 days, the buyer said he is very upset with this and going to step back if I don't lower the selling price, i.e. he asked me via Sedo rep to lower his own bid! And all Sedo rep could do is to tell me that I can start legal case against buyer because of breach of contract. Despite transfer of that domain wasn't available, the push was as it is at Godaddy. However, the buyer said he doesn't want the push. So finally I gave up and "lowered" the selling price and the buyer "agreed". What a crap.

The exact same thing happened to me recently three times at sedo, again with Godaddy 60 day locked domains that I purchased at their marketplace. The buyers simply refused the push and instead preferred to wait.

I think many buyers don't understand the difference between a domain registrar and a hosting company. They try to transfer the domain to a hosting company to use it. They don't understand that they can leave it where it is and update the nameservers.

Sedo is doing a poor job educating the buyers. They should put some videos explaining what a domain registrar is.

You don't have to. Sedo are offering an escrow service. That means you only push the name to Sedo. If they ask for anything else they are not offering an escrow service and are making false claims. That is between you and Sedo, not you and the buyer.

I cannot believe people are transferring direct to buyers - that is asking for trouble and sooner or later you will not get paid. I know people who have waited a long time to get paid even when it is clear the buyer has already received the name. And the buyer could even claim not to have received the name.

Yes I can forward my domains, but not other people's. If I visit a parking page I'd like to be alerted there if the domain is currently on auction.

Yep, it's pity, really. Sedo should indeed either include option allowing not to sell to those who doesn't want the push or make it obligatory for buyers to accept (free, easy) push in case sale agreement takes place.

They buyer is not in a position to withdraw their bid and Sedo are the ones to take legal action or make threats to the buyer, and I believe sometimes they do that, other times they don't want to.

The buyer accepts that since there is an escrow service they will never get the domain from you, only from Sedo.

It already is obligatory because they operate an escrow system - the domain cannot go direct from seller to buyer, it has to go through Sedo's hands - Sedo and the buyer have committed themselves to that, they cannot refuse.
