Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

And now the good news......I made $5.30 with 5 clicks on a .BZ domain at sedo today!

I think you are getting a little paranoid over this.....IMO it is ridiculous to think that the changes on sedo contravene any privacy laws anywhere.

Well i think privacy is a serious issue and for that i maybe paranoid when at facebook (for example) the only think you don't give in public is your DNA sample

Do you think I woke one morning and decided that this new feature will be my complain excuse the next months for sedo ?

I have real examples that the country indication (not for me) but at least for 3 domainers i know played a negative role to the negotiation.

When you want to sell something you don't say to the buyer "it's your loss" if he has problem with the country

Obviously the trust factor is the most significant for a company in general and even more for a virtual sale as the domain name
I hate the โ€œtake or leave itโ€ attitude in any case scenario and i also donโ€™t like to ฯƒee that the sale procedure gets harder for any reason even for 0,1%

There is NO PRACTICAL and LOGICAL advantage for this indication
If you have a secured escrow service what do you want to do with this type of transparency

Also i can't understand you or sedo why it's so difficult to make this field optional and selectable from the user

Ending I will put some non sci-fi cases

1. When you are a domain broker and promote the names you handle.
The country indication is the country you stated in your account and not per domain name of course. So the info the buyer gets for the โ€œownerโ€ of the name not only is useless but also can distract him

2. It mess the idea of hidden whois service of the registrars

3. In some countries of the world some activities are forbidden (some Arabic countries for example). Do you think this is helpful for the seller to display his adult or gambling websites or domain name sale ?

Iโ€™m not a privacy freak, I donโ€™t care for how long the site stores his cookies in my browser, I donโ€™t secure overwrite windows swp files, my browser history is valuable and not trush it everytime I open my computerโ€ฆ.

However I stand behind my primary post that this is NOT a useful feature from Sedo and it will NOT help the sellers

If from my paranoia i will be able to help even one domainer to sell his domain I would be pleased rather than keep a โ€œI donโ€™t careโ€ attitude

here's my view on your points:

1. If you are using a broker to sell a domain then no one is going to know who you are or what country you are in wether you use sedo or not. I honestly cannot see how anyone can be "distracted" by revealing the country of origin of the buyer/seller. If somebody really wants a domain then they are not going to care who is selling or where it is being sold from as long as everything is legit. Sedo provides the valuable service of putting the two together and without their service the buyer and seller may never have connected. I personally would not have made the sales I have but for this "Free" service.
2. I don't use whois privacy because I want people to be able to contact me to enquire about my domains. I would suggest that those who do use it are really not interested in selling anyway.
3. If you are doing something illegal in your own country then you are responsible for your own actions. As I stated previously, showing the country of origin of either the buyer or seller does not say who you are. Most countries have populations in the millions and there would not be a cat in hells chance of anyone being able to identify you from that information.

Is anyone else getting a blank page when they try to view their partner stats today?

Yes, over here.

Also the "billing" page.

Hmm. I can open the billing page, but not partner stats.

Stehpanie or Carolyn, please look into this for us tomorrow.

Thanks

Yeah same for me too. I can open the billing but just a blank page for partner stats.

Sedo auctions without reserve - How can we get that too?

personals.nu
the.nu
broadcatsts.cc
knew.me
tributaries.co.uk
and more ...

No reserve.
Because of no common TLD, probably.
But how do they get onto the auction then?

Looks as though this domain was listed in error. The client apparently intended to list a typo of the domain. The listing has now been removed. Thanks for pointing it out!!

Was the client allowed to relist the proper typo of the trademark? :yell:

His account manager is taking care of it as far as I know.

Is it true that Sedo won Biggest domain parking racketeer 2008 pushing tons of domainers to park to avoid 50$ minimal commision and screwing them hard on parking revenue?

I give You my personal award: Worst revenue domain parking ever since.

I'm of the opinion the above post is out of line.

Me too! No one is forced to use sedo to sell or park domains and they are a lot cheaper than others when it comes to commission and minimum fee's.

Sedo announces additional features on the new Offer Details Page!

After the initial Offer Details Page launch in August, our members had several suggestions for how to improve the page. We reviewed the page performance and took their comments into consideration and are pleased to share the newly added features.

A change to the Activity Index is that it now includes a new image and data for up to a year of transactions, which will improve most membersโ€™ Activity Index level. Remember, the Activity Index is not a ranking system. Rather itโ€™s a way for other members to gauge the sellerโ€™s sales activity in the past twelve months in Sedoโ€™s marketplace.

The link to analyze a domainโ€™s search engine rankings was returned to the offer page within the Domain Statistics section and has been renamed to โ€œRanking Report.โ€ (It had been removed while our partner UrlTrends was updating their offerings.) Clicking the link you can view the domainโ€™s search engine ranking, Alexa ranking, and number of incoming links. Additionally due to customer requests and because the listing age doesnโ€™t necessarily correlate with a domainโ€™s value, the date a domain was added to a memberโ€™s account will no longer be listed on the offer page. By providing our members with clear, easily accessible information about a domain name and its seller on one page we hope to make purchasing decisions even easier in the future.
