Secure Email? Domains, Hosting AND Email from same vendor?

I am using Gmail and Hotmail for my 2 main email accounts. I've had some problems with changing passwords and the threat of not being able to access these accounts (ever again) due to forgetting passwords seems to be a real one. For example, Gmail sends an email to your "backup email" and if you did not enter one, you answer your security question after a 5 day lock. If you forget that, you are permanently locked from your account (no phone calls to Google will help).

Has anyone had any problems using Godaddy as their email service? Is there any risk involved with having your domains, hosting AND email all provided by the same vendor? I was thinking of having my domains and hosting at Godaddy, but my email at another provider such as Network Solutions or something. Godaddy's email application seems a little archaic (and you cannot change the logo, etc.)

Any thoughts on secure email accounts and how it relates to domain registrars and hosting?

I use yahoo email services and have no issues with them.

Personally, I use all of my e-mail on my hosting. It's always felt less risky to me. Yahoo, Gmail, and the others sometimes have the spam filters and all turned so high that it blocks e-mails, even the legit ones, so that's why I use my hosting e-mail. I have full control over it.

I keep to the idea that keeping eggs in different baskets is simpler, as it's easier to find two companies each providing one excellent servicer like hosting and domain registration and maintenance than to find one company with 2 excellent services.
And I'm using a host whose primarily involved into hosting services ahosting.biz.
No doubt Godaddy's a great registrar, as for their hosting have you had any problems with them or are you just trying to stay alert?
