Forgive me if this is in the wrong forum, but here's a helpful hint I learned long ago for Firefox users. You can apply this to any of your favorite websites or domaining resources that you may search on a daily basis.
Add whois search directly to the Firefox address bar using keyword shortcuts
So let's say you would like to do a whois search on a domain. Most users would go to a place such as DomainTools.com and perform a search. I'll show you how to perform a search straight from your address bar.
Step 1:
Surf to your favorite whois website, such as DomainTools.com
Find the searchbox on the main page an right-click on it.
Choose the option "Add a Keyword for this Search..."
Example 1
Step 2:
The Add Bookmark dialog box will open up.
Fill out a name for the search. This will show up in your bookmarks. In this example we chose "DomainToolsWhois"
Now fillout the "Keyword" field. This is what you will type in before your search text, so make it short and sweet. We chose "whois" here.
Leave the last field at "Bookmarks Menu" and we're set.
Example 2
Step 3:
Now type in your search query into the Firefox address bar.
The syntax should be as such
"whois namepros.com"
Make sure you use the space in between.
Example 3
Step 4:
And Viola!
The search has been performed. The query in the address bar has changed to the proper URL of the website.
Example 4
You can use this with any site, so have fun!
You can do the same with your favorite Registrar as well. See the Example images using eNom and the keyword "reg" while searching for the domain "compuglobalhypermeganet.com"
