Not sure what this crap email is I have recently started getting - a few a week

I'm not an "active" domainer so to speak so they would have to
search out my email address - or someone sold it, which IS MORE LIKELY THE CASE!

Anyways, here is the crap - not sure where they benefit by saying they own this domain as
Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
    for detailed information.

    No match for "HCHEK.NET‏".

I do not even own a .net, never mind one that is "similar" to the crappy shit in this email

    Hello,

Seeing that you have a similar domain name I am curious if you would benefit in acquiring the hchek dot net from me?

Regards and talk to you soon
    Dennise.

I've seen them do that with expiring domains. If someone shows interest, theyll try to grab it for a quick turnaround.

"Similar" usually requires a BIG stretch of the imagination. Like ... 3 characters match a domain you owned 5 years ago.

I've had emails like this where the domain they're peddling is one still registered by me that I'm intentionally dropping.

    Trashcan fodder.

I was getting these e-mails all the time and for many years now. Because they don't own the names and spams are cheap to send out.

I really se no difference than people sending out spam to buy LLLL . com domain names. Everyone is out to make a quick buck.
