Hello!!!

I've had a frustrating week...

Last week I sold my domain name on Sedo insurance.casino for $$$$ to Sriram Gopalan. He immediately wanted a receipt with my signature. (Red flags are going up.) I waited and waited and no payment...then I decided to do a name look up and I found my domain for sale on Dan.com with Sriram Gopalan listed as the owner. :rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage::rage:
I contacted Sedo and they said that his cc was rejected due to security reasons. They would try a wire transfer and then cancel the escrow.

I CONTACTED DAN.COM
(See below)
Sriram Gopalan is selling insurance.casino on your site.

He bought the domain from me on Sedo over a week ago... but has yet to pay for it...so he should not be selling a domain name he does not own.
Their reply:

Thank you for notifying us.

Please grant a print screen of the domain residing in your registrars account and I will make sure to remove the domain for you.

What kind of security does DAN.COM use??? I guess anyone can sell a domain without verification??? Why am I on the hook to provide them with proof of ownership??? HEY DAN.COM - SHOULDN'T SRIRAM GOPALAM BE PROVING HIS OWNERSHIP OF THE DOMAIN???

PS Everyone...it is STILL UP FOR SALE!!!!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I am replying to your quote"I get it...."
If that wasn't for me then I am sorry!!!

When someone here tags someone with @ it's so they come into the thread and answer the questions of the person who started the thread. If not they may not see it and not comment. Reza is @DAN.COM so he can come in and address your comments here.

Can we be done here...please.
You can click "report" button in your original post, and ask moderators to do what you like - close the thread, lock it, move it, etc...

You needing to chill has nothing to do with you being a woman. You need to chill.

Domain ownership isn't required to list on DAN. Plain and simple. Like it or not. Don't like it? Don't list there.

It means you need to do your due diligence and let them know that you are the current owner.

This has happened to me on DAN countless times (previous owners listed there.)

Easy fix, and DAN is always prompt about updating. They're just not gonna ignore it.

Also, a domain will never sell unless you're the rightful owner. No risk there.

Words of wisdom. I wish I learned it when I was a child (as early as possible) :)

Correct. May be the strategy from Marketplace website to get as many as sales lead. They always can try to sell different domain once buyer engage in communication.

Yep. DAN has made it very clear that their goal is to keep as many doors open as possible, like it or not.

Omg...I didn't ask for anyone to try to solve this for me...I am just letting you know what happened.

Your gender has nothing to do with you over reacting about having to send DAN a screenshot. It happens to all of us at almost all marketplaces. Nothing new.

You need to modify the thread title and not lump DAN with your supposed deadbeat buyer. DAN did nothing wrong and you are clearly taking it out on them.

Perhaps instead of barking orders you could assist the situation by suggesting a better resolve.

@Verysassyc
I sent you a (PM) private message.

@Verysassyc should not have to supply the burden of proof to @dan. She is not listing on DAN. The burden of proof should go to the party listing on DAN.

Let's not complicate something so simple.

Many marketplaces wont require any verification unless it's already listed on them by another user. There is an assumption that the seller is going to be honest about their inventory. If the name sells and they dont own it they wont be able to complete the transaction and the marketplace may suspend them if they feel its warranted.

As for this specific deal until I see evidence to the contrary I tend to assume the best. You said the buyer used a fake cc. We dont know that. Sedo even dosent know that, it sounds like they see something that has prompted them to request verification from the buyer that wasnt provided but they could of asked for the verification ebaxsusr ofbthe size of the transaction of if the buyer is from a specific country.

Theres alot of possibilities and not alot of ingormstionas to what exactly happened. Maybe it's a scam, or maybe it's just someone who finds a buyer for a name then tries to buy it from the current owner for less than he already sold it for. Or maybe even he could of been a previous owner that accidentally let it expire and is trying to buy it back from you after realizing it. We simply don't know.

Yes. I agree. But what if you just catched a dropped domain and need to remove from marketplace? You will need to proof your ownership right?

No.
The previous owner is still responsible for commissions if the domain sells but can't deliver the domain.
I have several domains that are listed by previous owners. If they sell the domain it's still mine and I couldn't care less about the previous owners lack of responsibility.
I don't need to prove SH*T.

If the listing on DAN happened after the SEDO "agreement of sale", and CC rejected, I bet it was a fraud.

It's not that simple. To list the domain the dan.com user already made a claim of ownership now the OP is making a claim of ownership. So since the OPs claim is more recent why shouldn't she be the one with the burden of proof?

We dont even know the timing of everything so to say it was or was not either way is just conjecture.

Sorry. You read it wrong. I bought a domain from a dropped domain. The previous owner either forgot to renew, or just passed away. The domain dropped and deleted. I bought it from registrar hand reg. I found it was on marketplace. I need to delete. I have to prove my ownership.

ONLY if you're trying to sell it at the same venue.
If not don't lose any sleep over it.

What if the 2nd claim is from somebody who is not DAN customer, and is not looking to sell the domain on DAN? Why would the real owner send an ID or screenshot or anything to somebody they have no business relationships with? Yeah, sometimes it may be easier. In this particular case especially. Making a screenshot and attaching it to email is just ~`30 seconds. But it should not be considered as an obligation. DAN might well request ownership proof from their current customer (who listed the domain) instead...
