Is there a way to save videos off off youtube and sites like it?

Sometimes I just would like to keep a local copy incase they are ever removed from the site I found it on.

there are several websites which let you download youtube/google ... videos. but they do it in .flv file format. you have to convert them from .flv to .avi/mpeg...

here is an easier and direct way to do it
www.zamzar.com
it is an online file converter
use url download and choose which file format you need for output

You can also install a free script in your website and download videos into your PC.

If you use Firefox, there's a plugin to rip online videos as well.

Yep, there's also this one:

I personally prefer to download the FLA and convert it myself as i don't find Zamzar to it to any type of quality - especially when I'm putting it onto my ipod :P

VideoDownloader hardly ever works. If you want a server error all the time, install it. ;/
The ripzor.com link is pretty good.
