Hello guys,

Would like to know how safe is it to use your credit card to shop online? Would i be safer if i use Paypal?
I dont really feel ok with merchants having my credit card number or im just being too paranoid?

Thanks,

Paypal is usually safe enough to be used for any type of interstate or international payment. Even more than direct credit card transfer, I suppose.

Depends on how you load your paypal and how much you trust them to come good on their promise. I had my ebay account hacked once and they were very quick to clean that mess up for me.

If you're paranoid... take cash to the nearest convenience store.. spend $5 on a Green Dot card.. then load Paypal. No one has any access to anything tied to you. It costs $5 but thats not much than an ATM charge these days.

Also you can use AMEX Credit Cards for just about anything ;) Get your account setup at NJ, GoDaddy etc with a Gift card. Risk is very limited and to the value on the gift - which even is recoverable in case of loss/fraud if you keep the information.

Always make sure it's a CREDIT card and not a DEBIT card when you pay. Debit cards have very poor protection.

I didnt know about the green dot card. I have been looking for something to load my Paypal with when I have the cash but not anything in my account (which is most of the time) .
Thanks for the tip...
Peace
