Hi @Ryan Ewen & Co. A word of caution — I’ll have to reach out to Papal & my cc to cancel the transactions at dnename as it’s been over 48 hours and I haven’t received the auth codes I was promised would arrive within 24 hours from China. (I even tried emailing them directly.) It’s a shame — not only because of the hassle this causes me, but also because I liked the names I bought.

I would not recommend anyone do business with the company. Or, if you have done business with them and think they’re respectable, please let me know your experience. Thanks.
You need to request an auth code - login - and they will send it.

I have used this marketplace many times and never had an issue.

Out of interest what domains did you acquire (if you are comfortable sharing)

Hi @RyanEwen A few days ago I joined your site but I noticed that when I search my domain talktral.com it is mentioned that it is taken in 4 TLDs. However, on expireddomains.net it is mentioned that the TLDs taken are 7 and on Atom they are 9. I guess that dnwe.com TLDs count is based on dotdb.com, right? Thank you.
We use DOTDB - there are a few other data providers but we use DOTDB

Hi @Ryan Ewen. Periodically, when I’m researching domains to buy, I encounter a message that such and such name is for sale on Afternic or whatever for $x. Should that be an indication to me that this domain maybe hard to sell? Or, should I just chalk it up to old data, like uncleared cache? Thanks in advance.
Hi Molly,

Yes i would chalk it up to old data - or a listing that is not by the actual owner.

Thanks for the follow up. Right after purchasing my domains, I logged in and requested auth codes; the popup said they’d arrive in 24 hours, and the order status immediately changed to available for transfer out.

I’m super disappointed to say I still haven’t received any auth codes 72 hours later, nor responses to my emails (checked spam). They’re in China, so I’d be surprised if they were closed for the 4th of July holiday weekend.

I initiated a dispute with PayPal yesterday and will be calling my cc company today to reverse the charges. Would have loved to share the names with you if I had actually acquired them. Instead, I’m out a grand & a ton of time. Thanks again for circling back.

Hi Molly,

Thanks for this, too. I should have clarified, it’s actually expired & closeout domains that I sometimes see marked (on Esti) as for sale on Afternic. I then wonder, was it dropped/expired because it wouldn’t sell, and will I now be stuck holding the bag? Thanks again for being so generous with your guidance in this thread.

Ok - understood.

Domains are typically longterm holds - so the previous owner may not have had cashflow or reviewed & trimmed their portfolio.

The data is the truth - so if that stacks up then at least you have the best chance of success.

Pro Tip: You can access most of their data for free by changing "namepros.com" to whichever website you want to check:
You can clear your cookies (or open a private/incognito browser window) once it prompts you to create an account, and then you'll be able to continue using it without creating an account.

We hope this helps.

Hey @RyanEwen. FYI - they replied to the PayPal dispute saying they’ll send the auth codes within 24 hours if I cancel the disputes. I’m not yet sure how to sort it out, but wanted to let you know that I did at least hear back from them after PayPal. That’s a step in the right direction!

That's a good way to get booted off PayPal. Ok, now I see you're working with them. Much better.

If, as you say, you're out a grand from domain purchases, can I just add you really need to slow your roll? Incl. grace delete a big portion of your hand reg names.

Also, apologies--- it wasn't my intention to hijack this thread/AMA. Thanks Ryan, I look forward to what DNWE will bring to the domain landscape.

Thanks for letting me know. I am very sensitive over giving recommendations so only recommend trusted sources.

If you want the domains then i would cancel the paypal dispute and get the auth codes.

Why is your NP account so new? You pointed out the value of forums in a post. Is this your first and only NP account?

Wondering your personal appraisal of BetCoins.com as my 2nd question.

I've only been full time for 2.5 years - previously i was more into uk domains.

Events, forums etc are important.

I will address the valuation in another post where i layout what metrics i use - that way you can see how i work it out

Hello Ryan,
Can you explain how the curated list is, well, curated?
Can a name listed in the dutch auction be considered for curation as well?
Ty!

Hi @Ryan Ewen. I’m glad to report this has been resolved, and I am now the owner of three new domains. Once they got in touch with me, they were great to work with. I would use them again, but anticipate it could be 72 hours before delivery.

Hi @Ryan Ewen. I had a question about this, too. From what I can tell, the determination of class (Prime vs Standard listings) on DNWE is immediate and automatic. But what happens if you go back and change the price later — will the domain automatically get reassessed?

Also, this could just be me, but I find it confusing that the search field is specific to the class you’re viewing (prime vs standard). To the naked eye, it’s not immediately obvious what’s happening — that you’re only seeing a fraction of the available search results. It would make more sense & be more effective for the search feature to return results from both lists, regardless of the page you’re on, IMO. Thanks.

At the moment it is a bit of automation and some human intervention.

We are working on the new releases so are using more data feeds to help with curation.

Hi Molly,

Yes I agree with your suggestions. We will work through this and are also working on pattern search similar to Namebio
