Well, you forced me to go to the dictionary to look up puerile :)

-puerile: childishly foolish; immature or trivial: a puerile piece of writing.

Seems like an appropriate term, and I think you are on the right track.

Could you expand on your intent in regards to rule #1?

Also found a typo in #6, ...even if they retain to .mobi... should it be pertain?

looks good... now to see if the trollers can actually restrain themselves from posting the exact same comments every day..

...here come the ridiculous "free speech" arguements.

Typo fixed :) Thanks.

As for Rule #1 it was meant too stop people from advertising their own websites as this is not a .mobi advertising forum. Please place those in Forsale/Advertising forum in the normal Namepros section. Until I can convince RJ to make another sub-forum for .mobi for advertising :)

However websites that are not your own are allowed to be advertised if they pertain too the topic.. So if somebody is talking about Toilets.. I don't want people posting a Website on Tax Information.. Which is basically spam.

A common practice is that people develop a .mobi site and post it for feedback. Would this now be considered advertising your own site and deemed inappropriate?

a minor question I have is can the rules be turned into a subforum announcement instead of a sticky, just as is done in the marketplace? Seems like it would garner more attention that way, especially for newcomers.

Yes it will be turned into an announcement when one of the staff do it, I am unable to create announcements.

Thank you. good rules, especially rule #4. I was getting sick of the same few people leaving the exact same negative comments again and again on every single thread.

Thank you Steve - I'm very pleased to see rules that reflect a spirit of respect and courtesy that is properly owed to our .mobi community of investors.

4. Any parties found to be constantly questioning the .mobi extension will find themselves asked to leave the .mobi forum. This forum was created to discuss the .mobi extension, not question its existence.
The debates will continue to rage though and I must confess I enjoyed defending .mobi on numerous occasions/topics - and since the debates will not end so long as new people discover .mobi, and its naysayers' opinions - especially in other forums, I actually think it would be doing .mobi a disservice if we didn't have some place to deal with such issues constructively... so long as people aren't allowed to simply attack .mobi without raising sincere points.

Topics, such as a "what's the point of .mobi?" or "Where do you think .mobi will be in 5 years?" or "what's up with mTLD?" should be fair game - either we could make them sticky threads, or perhaps have a way of flagging controversial new threads. It would help :imho: if we had such threads to point newcomers who raise related doubts and to update our own thoughts as they evolve and mature.

IMHO, advertising on one's own .mobi sites/products/services should be relaxed a little bit, especially at the early stage of .mobi development. This would encourage information exchange and mutual learning. This is what I like this board most.

When .mobi becomes mature or after two years, sure I am all for restricting advertising on the board.

If you find the topic too be hot or debating.. Just report it and say so and we will flag it as such.

I agree with Hedgefund on this one. I'm all for any products / services and live sites being "launched" here, if for nothing else, input, as long as the services / products are geared for the mobi crowd. I've been helped out a lot here listening to valued opinions and trying out different services that I never would have found elsewhere.

I, also like hearing both sides of the debates, but it's a real welcome to be getting away from the stale, monotonous, "same old same old" responses that were getting uncomfortable to most of us.
Thanks for the efforts to keep it real...

I will continue to revise the rules based on what I find to better suit the community.. I will take both those into account :)

It was interesting to read some of those back and forth arguments, the more the naysayers tried to put .mobi down the more I was convinced that I had made the right choice getting some dot mobi domains, after all why would they waste their time with all those posts if they weren’t worried by the true potentials of this extension.

Those who have abandoned their dreams will try to discourage yours :)

Now that there are some rules for the so called bad guys there should also be some guidelines for the good guys too, because sometimes perhaps unknowingly they end up creating a negative tone for the thread and start a fight. If someone asks for opinions about a domain it is okay for the mobi fans to give their honest and educated opinion even if it means that they don’t like that domain, but they need to express their opinion in a more professional manner without creating a negative or confrontational tone. They could always say that in their opinion the domain is “ below average “ or that it has “ no potential “ or even that it was a “ mistake “ to register such a domain and that’s better than saying that the domain is “ junk ” or “ stupid reg “ , because then the good guys will be worse than the bad guys, because even though the bad guys keep bashing the extension but they don’t usually bash the domain. :)
