I'm trying to understand how two such general and simple words can amount to more than $1 million...

This data still doesn't explain why the words "hurricane" and "damages" are worth $1 million.

The monthly search density for "hurricane damages" in the USA is less than 100.

I don't like this schwarse guy anyway. This is most likely a fake sale made to cover the accounting gap of the party he agreed with.

If you don’t understand how lawsuits regarding the exact keywords in a domain name where tens of millions of dollars are at stake helps make this a valuable domain name then I can’t help you.

That's it, pricing all my domains at 1.225 million

This is a fine example of it's not the domain name, but the person.

A lot of domainers would have sold HurricaneDamages.com for $10K-$20K.

Looks like the new owners are redirecting to Rick's blog. I am sure they'll recoup their investment in no time.

HurricaneDamages.com is a great name, I'm glad he made that big of a deal.

I might have snagged it for $5 on a GD closeout and would have been tickled getting an 899 BIN.

Could be why I'm not a millionaire domainer though too!

He buys domains at Auctions for around $2k then lists them for about $1.2 Million on his website .

So while insurance companies are paying out millions of dollars to cover current damages and litigation costs, you expect me to believe that these same people are saying "let's pay $1 million for this dysfunctional domain name"?

Ok.

I realize most domainers don't understand the power of names. No wonder most think reselling pricing on everything should be $50. How dare you ask for $300 -$500 for Hurricane Damages .com. The concept of use case doesn't cross their mind. the possibility that an insurance company or someone else could use this doesn't cross their mind. All they see are two random words and focused on google searchers etc. No independent thinking. no businesses ideas. No solutions in their mind. Getting too technical sometimes.

Now i do think 7 figures is crazy high for this though. But in business, i realize it's not always about what i think. But what do potential clients or customers value or want. Obviously a client finds the name valuable right? so who are we to say the name is trash?

And google cannot look ahead and see that hurricanes, earthquakes, etc will be on the rise like never before. But someone with the data and foresight may see this. That's why we can't just put ourselves in a box and worry about searches etc. Someone could look ahead and buy quantum names in 2020 and make a killing in the future.. while google may have said then that quantum is 50 years away.
