Reviewing Old Sales - Few Websites

I went back through some of my better end-user old sales (going back to 2007) and wanted to see how many of them have active websites. I was pretty surprised by the results.

About 90% of the reviewed sales (approximate numbers) were not active. The website either did not resolve at all or were parked at some provider. Interesting results (at least, to me). Anyone else see similar? These were also sales prices that exceeded $1,000. (I consider to be a sizable investment)

Because 90% of the sales are between domainers. Usually, end-users are not disclosing the information and there is a non-disclosure agreement between them and the domain owner.

..and where did you get that number? that's definitely not true for $1K+ sales. just do not count $x sales on NP for that purpose..

and there is a non-disclosure agreement between them and the domain owner.

..very rarely when it comes to $1K+ sales and under $xx,xxx... besides that how does non-disclosure prevent development of a domain bought?

I excluded "domainers" sales from this list. These were "End-User" sales....

I see the same trend. Over the last four years, and about two dozen end user sales later, I've noticed most are parked or inactive (some didn't even change the whois info) I have not seen one development from my sales, the closest is resourcereport.com being forwarded to a monthly newsletter/report.

Yup - I notice the same thing. Every now and then I go and look back on some of the names I've sold in the past..Whether it be through Sedo or End User emails that I personally sent out - About 80% or so remain parked or don't resolve at all.

I was a little surprised when I noticed this the first time as well. Considering about 90% of my sales are through end user emails to businesses I contacted personally, it's a little surprising.

I guess it's their virtual real estate now and they just wanted to pick it up when they had the chance. Maybe some of them plan on developing further down the line when they have more spare time..
