Targeted TRAFFIC ccTLDs 2009 Live Auction Results | Domain Name News

DiamondRings.com/.net $168,250 - late entry non cctld - being an old cynic, perhaps they were put in knowing a sale was on the cards and to boost the auction results.:gl:

Anyway, a few interesting results and what looks like good news for .us. As expected the .tv's failed to sell and .cm picked up a few low end sales. The steal of the show Fuel.in at $900- just my opinion.

Yeah, I believe all three similar "Ring(s)" domains sold ... it would be interesting to hear why they were a late entry, to whom they sold, and what the specific plans are with the domain names IMHO.

Agreed ... the ".TV's" stood out in this auction; overpriced, and even know discounted for the event, along with hefty annual premium renewal prices (and Rick specifically acknowledged prior to the auction that these annual premium renewal fees were a hindrance to ".TV" sales), as well! :guilty: :imho:

A couple impressive .US sales with CheapCars.us and Job.us

.US has been on the move with some good recent BIDO and TDNAM sales.

Jeff ... people are not stupid ... even with these premiums ...

future .TV premiums can be raised substantially for domains

that have not been registered or that get dropped ... with this

kind of policy repeating itself historically this extension will

never gain mass appeal ... they are pricing the extension

like its Rodeo Drive and Rodeo Drive is not and will never

be for the masses ... I just sold a .com that I handregistered

for over $30,000 today :bah:

Righto, and you also gotta love some of the other (non .COM) sales;
Houses.co.uk, Job.us, Brussels.net, etc. :gl:

Good observations and insight here!

Take any of these domains you just mentioned ...

How can you loose with them ? ... the same in .TV you are at the

mercy of a policy that limits its potential and therefore becomes

a SIGNIFICANT business risk ... businesses have enough risk as it

is :bah: ...

I already spent some of todays gain on new domains :D (no new .tvs)

^ You're preaching to the choire, my friend ... you know how I feel about the ".TV", and the marketplace has once again validated my long-standing, and very PUBLIC honest and humble opinions! :yell: :imho:

PS. Congrats on your .COM sale (and .COM reinvestment(s))! :tu:
See you soon.

By low sell high works better than buy high sell higher

Some interesting results there. Such a shame so many reserves were so high. If the sellers had the guts to chop them in half at the start, it would be a much better chance to generate a bit of a competition & possible surpass what the original reserve would have been.

Saying that though, because there were so many domains in different niches, might have been hard to have the competition. Eg the .nl specialists only looking at .nl etc.

By low sell high works better than buy high sell higher

That's spot on!

One more good thing for me is a hack sale beside the nice .us sales.. Oas.is went for $300.. Not much but not a great keyword.. I think a few of mine could do better (Monito rs, Banne rs,
Traile rs...) Nice for the hack market.. The .tvs were totally overpriced and have to high reg fees..

Who's the Usual Suspectโ„ข ".TV" domainer ... who bid on it at a very public auction? :red:

I took a big risk in offering this (and Permits.us that sold for a mere $400) at zero reserve and I lost...never again.....so much for complaints of sellers having reserves that are "too high"......!!

Stopped doing it myself with a Sedo .co.uk disaster a year or so ago, the only beneficiaries are the auction house and the lucky buyer. :(
